I have only used a compound once. It was Menzerna FG400. I see no reason, as of now, to try anything new. Plus, I have a quart of it that just sits (wishing I would have bought 16oz, but I hate how for sometimes $10 more, you can get double!)
I have heard good things about Wolfgang Uber (which is Menzerna FG400 with some added stuff), Scholls compounds, and Meguiar's M100/101/105. Personally, I've never had good luck with Optimum polishes, but I have extremely soft, black paint. Optimum Finish on a grey CCS pad marred.
I think compounds and polishes that will become more popular are the Rupes brand. Every time I see people use the compound (including Mike Phillips using it in a Thursday Night Class) it finishes LSP ready (but they do the extra step just to enhance the gloss even more.) If you have their pads and machine, it may be worth going with this.
Happy detailing!
