IT Director

I do IT work for admissions at a university.

I just saw on the news this am a local company in the Tampa Bay that's been here for years just laid off and outsourced their IT Dept. Boo Hiss!!!

Fox13 Tampa Bay:
About 50 Catalina IT workers will be replaced by employees from Mindtree, one of the largest outsourcing firms used by companies in the U.S. , according to sources familiar with the matter. Employees affected by the layoffs told FOX 13 they're being asked to train their foreign replacements.

Some of the company's employees told FOX 13 they're simply being replaced by less expensive workers.

"Employees are expected to personally train their Indian replacements, reverse roles and watch their replacement work," said one IT worker who spoke on the condition of anonymity, fearing retaliation by the company. "Once management is satisfied with the transition, the American worker is laid off."

Talk about adding insult to being laid off!

Disney did the same thing in Orlando 6 months ago, laid off 250 American IT workers!!

Shame on you Mickey!!!!

My company did that, and outsourced IT support to a contractor in India. Company cancelled those contracts after a year with their tail between their legs. They did succeed in breaking the union that pretty much had a stranglehold before, and I'm not sure that that wasn't the master plan.

Currently a Hawaiian Dancer but don't seem to be making much money:

Actually a retired K9 handler, working as a NetAdmin for a bank. Started "detailing" when I was 16. Actually learned what it was a few years ago!

A lot of big companies outsource IT - big mistake imo - its a shame so much support is outside of the US. I'd wouldn't be very cooperative in training my replacement...

CFO at an Orlando Not-For-Profit Foundation, after many years in the Gaming biz...

I sold pkg. equipment to a large national ice cream manufacturer. The systems closed all the boxes on 5 lines. They outsourced their purchasing to India. When they could deal with me directly the maint. super would send me a po and in most cases get the part over nighted to him with next day delivery with little or no down time. Outsourced, it would take a week for me to get routed the po and their lines were constantly shutting down. I couldn't help but laugh my butt off. I felt really sorry for my guy in maintenance. Then they shut the plant down last fall.

Work at one of the more popular carwashes in my state. Going to school for finance. 21.

Not to be a jerk, but doesn't you posting a pic of you operating on a patient in the operating room violate some code of ethics? I mean with people being fired for tweets and face book posts, it seems irresponsible, that's all.
