Were these wheels bought used?
I didn't read all the posts, but, is it just me? Looking at the texture to the metal in the first pic, it does not look regular clear-coating. Possibly powder coated? If so, the blemish is probably under the coating.
The color/look of the second pic makes me think hyper-silver, a two part color, translucent silver over a darker silver or black. The blemish could be the underlying black showing through an un-even top color application (it's tricky).
I doubt they are un-coated because of all the chemicals tried (WB) didn't cause problems.
Just some thoughts.
Edit: Just re-read OP, they are hyper silver. Likely the undercoat showing through, someone did some shoddy paintwork, sorry. That wasn't so tough to figure out now was it guy's?
how can you tell if a wheel is coated or non coated??
Take a little Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish on a rag and rub it lightly in an inconspicuous area, if it immediately turns your towel black they are un-coated aluminum. Also, look closely, does it look like there is a layer of clear on it? :xyxthumbs:
Oh, did you guy's know that if you add a little bright max to some malco it becomes 100% bright max? (Flashyrides, I applaud your ability to see the humor, not explode and get all defensive :goodjob2
