23 YEAR OLD swirls on top of swirls - 88' Red Honda Civic pix/vids

Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! :props:

What did you use on the interior carpet and seats?

Mark, i believe she used Meguiars APC on the seats along with the steamer. That combo works really well on cloth. She may have used the extractor on then as well but i'd have to double check.

As for the carpets she used APC+ 4:1 i believe to presoak them, then oxyclean in hot water...and used a soft bristled brush to get the mat wet w/the oxy, then extracted it up.

That's just beautiful work my man!! :dblthumb2:

So the D300 was the only thing you used for that correction? And it finished down THAT nice, without another polishing step? Boy, that stuff sure could save me some time in the future!!

Its for sure my new go to product. Even for single passes on cars that really need some serious correction it works great. You really can go to sealant or to D301 finishing wax, which ever you want. For DD's like this i go for a long lasting sealant, for nicer fun type cars i go do the D301 for that little bit of extra pop :dblthumb2:

Awesome job! Yeah, what did you use on the seats and cloth and stuff? I want to do my parents Tahoe, which is their dog mobile. Any tips for dog hair? Again, looks great! I want a Flex now haha.

I listed above what i used for seats and carpets...as for the dog hair...As long as you don't have REALLY tightly napped carpet, you can put on a latex glove and you actually sort of 'brush' the carpet in one direction and as the static builds it helps pull the hair into a ball..use your shopvac in the other hand to suck it up as it builds. For the deeper stuff use a brush of some sort to kind of 'comb' it out of the carpet and you should get 99% out no problem.

That is an incredible transformation:props: You, sir, are an artist.

Thank you man im glad you enjoyed the write up...funny this old thing is one of our greatest turn arounds...and we've been doing a ton of chargers and challengers and such lately lol

Great job bring that old Civic back to life.

Awesome results with just one pass, finished down nicely.

D300 really does finish down surprisingly nice...i keep saying it but it finishes down almost as nice as a polish. If you follow up with 205...man...you have a FINISH. Check out this Challenger, black metallic, that we did the week prior...the halogen shots at the end were insane...super metallic lol http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...ic-black-dodge-challenger-ext-int-engine.html

Forgot to ask, what speed did you use with the 3401? I'm very surprised the MF pads worked so well with the 3401!

Mark i hope you didn't get rid of your 3401 lol. I use about 3.5 speed with the 5" pads and this is about the 5th car I've used the flex with the MF set up and everytime it's turned out wonderful. Like i said above, if you have someone wanting a double pass and follow with 205 (i dont consider following with D301 as a double pass) and then top it...it makes the finish super bright.

I'll just say to clean your MF pad often...LOVE the pad washer for this...just a little spray of APC...let it set for about 15 seconds, use the pad washer and the pad is like new. I finally wore down ONE of my MF pads...the center is getting thin....and i must have used it on 10 vehicles easily...maybe more. So GREAT investment if you keep those things clean.

Also..after EVERY section pass, if you don't have compressed air available, use a damn finger nail brush! My sis hipped me to this...i couldn't find my nylon bristle brush...she goes "Here try this"....the finger nail brush has more bristles so it covers the whole surface of the pad in about 3 or 4 brushes...its SOFT so you don't yank out fibers bu the bristles are deep enough to where it actually helps remove built up product and fluff up the fibers again. I usually go 6-8 section passes (give or take) and then use the pad washer.

Looking good as usual there. That was a outstanding save. Some are slow to get on the microfiber and D300 bandwagon but comebacks such as this helps push those sitting on the fence. Keep up the good work and kudo's to your sis on that red interior. Meg's #40 is cheap and looked top shelf on those red panels.

2old you changed your picture, didn't 'recognize' you at first lol. Thanks for the compliments and yes #40 is some really nice stuff...if you apply it evenly (and dont use TOO much) and then a light wipe down with a MF you really get a nice looking finish.

same question from me :xyxthumbs:

X 3 :props:

Lol listed above. APC on seats with steamer...APC+ and Oxyclean on carpets then extracted :dblthumb2:

one of the best transformations and write ups. love the look of well maintained older japanese cars. i guess this civic wasnt exactly maintained, but after your work, who would ever know? if the need ever comes up, im gonna give that mf correction a try for sure.

Seriously man try it, you'll love it. I use about 6-8 oz total on most cars...so you don't use a TON of product....if you lay a bead of product an pick it up on the fly you use even less and seems to gum the pad up a little less than if you were to apply the 3 or 4 pea size dots directly to the pad...just my experience anyway....just dont sling it!

Very nice work and terrific write up as well. The video is very cool. Great marketing piece. I love doing these type of turnarounds. It's been a little while since I last felt challenged with a job like that one. You and your sis did an awesome job bringing that old Honda back. It's great to see someone go above and beyond the call of duty like that. i commend you sir. :dblthumb2:

Yeah I'm considering replacing my main video on my site with this one lol...the main vid i have is a 2010 Camaro SS that turned out awesome...but this one was a very drastic turn around....hmmm decisions decisions, what do you think?

We always try going beyond what is expected of us and this time we REALLY did but hey, the lady was so happy it was worth it, even though we were beat lol

Great job Wills! Nice turnaround and you made that car look like new!

Hey Marc thanks a ton man, used those MFs i got from you again to remove the sealant...i swear the softest MF's i have are those lol

man you did an amazing job!!! whats the song you used in the video?

The song! YES i'm glad some people are watching the video. Its called "Ain't No Doubt About It' by Turk Littles. I love that jam, i actually love the whole album...got some really sweet tunes on that are great to work to.

Go here: AllTurksMusic.com - Turks Music to download it. I'd also recommend "Us" and "Fat Back", but all the songs you can hear clips of...great listening and working tunes for sure.

Wow! I worked on a '95 Civic that was further gone than that (it was mine). Needless to say at that point I did not give it THAT much attention. Very nice!

I'm very surprised though, that seems to be BC/CC paint. As an '88 I would expect single stage.

I did too, but after working on it it was bc/cc...surprising but it worked for me

Awesome Wills! I love the b4 and afters especially on an old dd. Keep up the good work and keep the write ups coming! Oh and a thumbs up to sis for the great interior turn around.

Always cool seeing details of old beat on cars that sometimes are worth less than the detail itself lol.

Thanks Dan...old DD's always make great turn arounds if you take the time to do it right...and this one REALLY took a lot of time lol, but ended up beautiful

haha well i WISH we had made that much, it was surely worth it...but hey maybe next time

brother! you earned a summa cum laude degree in detailing. hope you got well paid for that job beyond your personal satisfaction. lets credit honda for having a paint that can bounce back from years of neglect.

budinsc

Still have the 3401, Wills! :D I'm gonna have to revisit the MF pads and D300 after your excellent results!

Ah thats good...i saw you had in your signature that you didn't want your flex 3401 anymore, figured someone was gonna hit you up for it lol. Give it a shot....kick that speed to 3.5 and tell me how it turns out :)

Efffin WOW! That 50/50 shot of the hood you referenced is now the shot that I show my wife to keep her in line with good maintenance.

Well you probably doubled the value of that car. Take pride in the good work you did. :xyxthumbs:

Id have to agree to that :). That little thing was fun to drive...kinda rough but it moves...like driving an over sized go-kart lol

Great job buddy! :props:

Thanks man! Was wondering if you'd see this write up lol

hahaha awesome. Yeah i think i'll put it on my flyer now. Funny i had my flyer just about ready to print, nice 100,000 dollar camaro we did on it, sweet vette and a very cool looking red challenger....and NOPE, 88' Honda civic takes the cake instead!

Just hope your wife doesn't hunt me down cause you keep throwing the picture in her face!

You guys always treat your customers to the best. You don't half a$$ anything. Always fantastic work! I actually love that car!

Yeah man we try to be consistent in everything we do...this is just an extension of that. SO you love THIS car or just that year/model?

Specifically that one. IDK if its the interior color, paint color, body style or what but something about the simplicity of it I find really appealing.
