New Word of the Day

In the development of their new, or soon to be new detailing business, forum members will reconnoiter other's websites and facebook pages. Doing this in order to come up with comparable pricing, service packages, and logos.

April 18.1906: The Great San Francisco Earthquake.

Prepondurance:excess in number or quantity.

The prepondurace of swirls lead many to the conclusion that the use of an aggressive compound is required.. However, depending upon the paint's hardness, or lack thereof; a medium polish used in conjuction with a cutting pad may prove to be adequate by employing the test spot method.

Misspelled my own word.

Gotta get my laptop fixed. Working on this old pc is driving me nuts

There is a saying that goes something like..."whatever you see in others that disturbs you the most, is a reflection of that which you see in yourself"...
Now having said this, one of my biggest pet peeves about forum posting are the individuals (myself included) that read or browse through the OP statement/question and miss the intent of the post.

Not every problem or situation can be remedied by expensive machines or products. Well, not that they can't as much as they may be unattainable or undesirable to the average Jo Blo detailer/hobbiest.

It's like telling the OP to use a $2500 steamer to remove the effects of ill applied ForeverBlack that has ruined a customers trim. The way that I look at it... if a detailer is using lower grade OTC remedies that mask the problem more than address the problem, why would one suggest he use a $2500 machine to remedy the malady.

Back on topic

My petulance for perceived $1500 fixes for $10 problems drives me batty.
The procacity to suggest that one's results previously obtained by using 'X 'brand will suffice the OP, when the author of said advice is performing a drive-by, without understanding the intent of the OP...DAMN I MUST STILL BE ON A RANT...

Anyway...happy detailing hand... :autowash:

VT, I hope all is good and mellow in your world. Do not forget any problem or ill-situation is generally caused by communication. That being said, if you need to talk or vent... I am here for you buddy!

Thanks Mike...kinda pissed off at a lady customer of mine (non detail related) that has bugged the crap out of me to acquire my services. I've been avoiding her for several weeks.

After repeated phone calls and unexpected visits at my front door, I relented.
Spent most of Wenesday getting quotes from distributors and meeting with subcontractors. She even came by to sign the contract roughly this time last night. Everything lined up to for a Saturday start. I even went to the residence I am working at now to pick up neccessary tools for her job.
Now, she calls me about a hour after I logged in this evening to tell me that she has second thoughts and wants to meet with me...I logged out, tore up the contract, walked two houses down the block and returned her check...F#^$ that B*&$#.

Why would a person hound you for weeks for your services, sleep on it, then cancel?

Im sure you have, but I would ask her to address her concerns with you, which obviously she has some sort of remission for your services rendered. The "unknown" can be scary to some and taking risks is not in some peoples character. I can see your situation being frustrating, however sometimes we need to realize any customer is a good customer. Without them, we would not have our job. They are the ones that put food on our and our families dinner plates.

I remember I dealt with a very annoying and eccentric customer over the phone. I wanted to do anything I could to get off the phone with her so I could get back to doing nothing at the shop. Not only did she come in and ask for me but she turned into becoming a very lucrative customer and I actually became good friends with her and her family. You just never know...

This is her exactly...plus she shows up unexpectedly as late as 11 pm or as early as 7 am.

I live in a very bougie sub-division. The husband and wife on my left are dentists that own their own clinic. The neighbor on my right is an oncologist at Walter Reed. The guy across from me is a former Redskin player, and the irritating lady is a lifelong realtor, probably in her 50's, sexy as heck, and reminds me of the lead characters in The Housewives of Atlanta tv series.

There is an exhorbitant amount of Keeping Up With The Joneses...not just here, but all over this area of Bowie. I ve always had a negative gut feeling hand concerning this broad.

Procacity (PRO-ca-sit-ee)

Definition: Forwardness; pertness; petulance

Prepondurance:excess in number or quantity.

@VT:
Sorry to hear of your current adversity...Hope all works out for the best!

@Tundra_10:
Great advice and counsel towards a Forum Friend!:props:

Some folks just seem to have the temerity
To regard others' feelings with procacity.
But nowadays this World's o'er run with a preponderance
Of a seemingly non-stop influx of impudence and insolence ;
I, for one, always take it as an effrontery.

When I first read your post Bob, thoughts of Doolittle and Eliza came to mind.

The following thoughts were of how a forum friend picked up on my negativity. Looking at the post now, how could anyone miss that? Thanks Mike!

As I scrolled through the past few pages of this thread I realized that I lost focus on what I enjoyed the most about AGO.

Now I feel as though I have not been a true hand...one that rides for the brand.

Time to cowboy up hand ...put things back into perspective.

Ride for The Brand

VT, whether you realize it or not your contribution to this thread and others commemorates the positive and uplifting presence to this forum community. You have given great advice, have added wit and humor, and your own knowledge on "specialty" topics. Do not be so cavalier with what you do here and the impact you have. Even if you think you might have lost sight, your forum friends are still very appreciative of your presence and we are glad and eagerly and thoroughly enjoy reading about what you have to say.

If I may...Two (2) "new words of the day"...For April 20th, 2012:

Periodicity
Definition: Regular recurrence; chemical similarity (Periodic Table)

Circadian
Definition: Relating to a 24 hour cycle

1.) A Detailing Business' success may often depend upon their Clients'/Customers' periodicity of what is known as: "Maintenance-Details".

2.) Considering the preponderance of car-care products available today, surely, it seems to me, that the Chemists/Blenders for the manufacturers/brands of these products, have chosen chemicals for said products, with their periodicity in mind.

3.)With what I'll refer to as: AGO Forum member Tundra_10's "revolving-work-schedule"...I can see where, (and considering an adult human's need for the proper amount sleep...REM, and NREM, as well), the periodicity of his circadian rhythm may, indeed, be interrupted.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, fruitful, upcoming weekend!!

:)

As I browsed Craigslist's postings of detail trailers, vans, and complete mobile detail businesses for sale, I pondered the periodicity of said sales . Seems that in early spring and late fall the number of said posts increase.

I also searched the websites displayed on the trailers and vans . One similarity that I noticed on theses websites were confusing packages and pricing. Another point noticed were the inexpensive price points. Being in the same geographical market, I don't see any avenue for profits on these detail websites.

Enough rambling for now...maybe I will search the members forum later tonight to see if whether any of these websites belong to forum members...may provide a clue as to whether moving on to bigger and better things; or whether a harbinger of the times.

^^ Thank you FUNX725 and Vegas Transplant for your contributions.

To FUNX725, these initial transitions are rough. I feel like a million bucks after a 5 hour nap, I guess I should since the last 2 days I did not collectively have 5 hours of rest. UGH!

Today is a good day for some people to be relaxing isnt it? hahaha!

Stymie (stahy-mee)

Definition: frustrate, hinder

Source: Thesaurus.com

The soft finish stymied the detailer as he continuously failed to find the least aggressive method, as all seemed to be too harsh and none seemed to finish "clear".
