New Word of the Day

I did not notice the posting # until you pointed it out! Thats awesome! Furthermore, I love the "qualities" you look for in your vette. Unfortunately, I have not met that unfortunate lady to fall for me haha. So until then, that second seat will get no wear and my car suspension will be just a hair lower on the drivers-side.

I appreciate the neon purple... that is a nice added touch! ;)

Equanimity (ee-kwuh-min-i-tee)

Definition: levelheadedness

Source: Thesaurus.com

A detailer must keep a certain state of equanimity when it comes to dealing with difficult jobs and customers. Any signs of "loss of control" or being "off "A" game" might give the appearance of low confidence levels and will steer customers away.

Elucidate (ih-loo-si-deyt)

Definition: explain in detail

Source: Thesaurus.com

It is imperative for a detailer to elucidate all of his steps and procedures to his customers that might feel his prices do not reflect his services.

Today on April 12...

On this date, April 12th, 1954...Bill Haley and the Comets recorded: "Rock Around the Clock"

On many occasions, thereafter, Bill Haley was asked to elucidate why he, himself, was not the harbinger of the decline of morality amongst America's youth listening and dancing to, or otherwise celebrating the: "Demon Rock 'n Roll" that was then sweeping the Nation.

After watching the below video, and if still alive...Should have Mr. Haley also have found it in his heart to elucidate the reasons for what seems to be pedofilic tendencies of many of this video's "performers"???

How well thought out and presented, Bob.
This post is spot on in defining the word of the day, as usual. However, it does bring one to query.

The detailer, in his effort to gain new customers, would elucidate the properties of the products performance; as claimed by both the manufacturers and the marketers.

It seems for the detailer, that skill in marketing products and services is just as important as the skills of producing said results.

^^ Very true VT, wow kinda funny and weird observation... the acronym for "very true" is "vt" as well. Anyway (sorry ADD kicking in lol), is that a monte carlo as your daily-changing avatar?

In addition to what you mentioned, I feel it is also important for the detailer to sell himself. These products are very good in what they do and can perform great work for even the novice detailer. So therefore just explaining what you can do is not enough because everyone can do what you can, in most all cases (especially if a little "wet behind the ears") better and more efficient then you. Therefore, you must sell yourself and make the person believe and like you and want you to do the services because of who "you" are.

Oh and by "you" I by no means you personally, I think you understood the approach I was taking but I want to make sure there is no eluding or incorrect undertone to my words.

Following is my humble attempt at an analogous lexeme contrived for the: "new word of the day", April 13th, 2012.

Callipgian

Definition: Shapely buttocks
____________________________________________________________________________________________________

I remember those: "Inspection-Sergeant-Days" when our cots were made in order to "bounce a quarter off of them". (We discovered innovative measures to sleep, without our buttocks, as well as the rest of our body, not disturbing this effect!)

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Nowadays, though, when hearing of, or thinking about, the above "quotationed phrase"...
I visualize this callipgian scenario:

And in recognition of the recent Liquid Glass threads:

Even though LG's product description, from their website, includes the claimed high-lighted-in-blue characteristic:

-Acid rain retardant
-Stone chip resistant after 25 coatings
-Extremely durable and mirror shiny
-Super slippery
-Reduces drag and increases top end speed on racing cars, planes and boats

I don't feel compelled to attempt the: "Dropping of the quarter"...on this vehicle (or any others, for that matter!!!)

O Brother, Where art thou? Search on Wikipedia for info.

The soundtrack took me through some dark times out yonder hand. Probably would have died in the desert if not for the grace of God.

No. It's a 68 Camaro belonging to the owner of the 71 C10 that I detailed Easter weekend in SC. I bought the 68 GMC truck in the background while I was there. The brown on the GMC is rust and not primer.
The Camaro should have made it to the shop today. It is already several months behind on a full restore due to the finalization of the customized C10 ...which is not pictured as it went to the uphoslterer that morning the picture was taken.
I also bought a 11hp 3600psi direct drive MTM pressure washer from a hand that purchased it from the city of Charlotte equipment and vehicle auction. Original price new $3200. Auction price $200. My price $350.

Oh and by "you" I by no means you personally, I think you understood the approach I was taking but I want to make sure there is no eluding or incorrect undertone to my words.

10-04 hand. No bout a doubt it forum friend!
Gotta run take back a customer car in a sec. Will have to catch up on all postings from the past 8-9 days... especially the red pants. See you on the forum.

Approbate (ap-ruh-beyt)

Definition: to approve officially

Source: dictionary.com

When doing a final walkthrough with a vehicle pre-detail and post-detail a client will approbate what will be performed and their satisfaction with the work completed before the job can officially be finished.

25 coats is a lot of anyting to drop. I've never applied more than one coat IME.

And the same to you Bob. Just found out that my plans for tommorrow are cancelled. I have to drive the better half and a customer to a private fashion showing in Rockville around noonish.
Not my idea of a fun time :awman:

Then catching grief trying to remember what I originally posted.
At least I will have some time tomorrow for some serious input on this thread.

Approbate (ap-ruh-beyt)

Definition: to approve officially

Soon after 9/11, The United States Justice Department approbated the following Constitutional Law, first proposed by John Marshall in 1800:

Presidential Inherent Power: The "sole organ" doctrine.

By writing:

"We conclude that the Constitution vests the President with the plenary authority, as Commander in Chief and the sole organ of the Nation in its foreign relations, to use military force abroad--especially in response to grave national emergencies created by sudden, unforeseen attacks on the people and territory of the United States". (U.S. Justice Department 2001, 1)

^^^

I slept for 3 hours last night and am dead on my feet. As I was reading FUN's post, I thought you were heading in a totally different direction hand...something Freudian.

My recent purchases in SC were approbated by the keeper of the checkbook. In less than 1 hour later we were in the emergecy room with her eventually being diagnosed as having a concussion caused by the wind blowing shut the trunk lid on her noggin.

I missed the phone call tonight confirming Saturday's maintenance wash as I was delivering todays detail back to the owner. The customer, now one of the few friends the better half has in Md., sympathectically cancelled the appointment and invited the little lady to the showing.
Instead of a clean up tomorrow, I'll be witnessing plus sized models strutting down the runway. Probably not one possessing callipgian features of any sort. At least probably not like the picture that FUN posted.

VT thats an awesome score on the pressure washer. I recently bought one as well. Did not get the crazy deal you did though! Thats awesome! And thank you all for adding to the thread since I have last been on here which was not very long since I forgot to hit the send button. It was waiting for me ever so patiently as I got home lol. Ugh! I must have got side-tracked. Oh well, moving on.

Irriguous (ih-rig-yoo-uhs)

Definition: well watered, as land

Source: Thesaurus.com

I hope I am using this one in the proper context, according to the latin origin it seems that I might be, however the definition almost gives me the assumption it pertains to land vs being "x" in a "well-watered" state.

In order to properly wash a vehicle [before "waterless washes"] one would first have to put the vehicle in a irriguous situation so the loose dirt particles could wash away and form lubrication and a wet surface for the soapy-sponge to clean up the remaining debris.
