Selling my C6 Z06...

Making the fiscally responsible decision isn't always the most fun, but respectable nonetheless.

Kudos to you for doing what is best for you and your finances instead of what is fun….

I wonder if this will be like Marc and buffers, once you got rid of the Flex for a PC and then wanted one again. Your picking a nice replacement but soft paint and lower power just might having you do a double take later. Best of luck ...

What happened? You polish all the clear off the Z and have to get another car?

I understand the reasoning. The 370Z will be a nice car. I think you will miss the V8 though. That is where the Msutang would be a nice alternative.

Good luck and enjoy it.

Thanks.

Could I have still made the payments? Yes. Should I have bought it in the first place? No. This is why I've decided to sell it. I had a lot of fun with it for 2 years, but I've found more of a benefit selling it, rather than keeping it.

Some might say I'll miss the power of the V8, but I don't think so. I also wanted a more compact car. The z06 was just big! The 5.0 is even bulkier! Sure, I'm downgrading, but I'm confident I'll be satisfied not only with the 370Z, but my bank account, too.

make sure to get a Nismo catalog ... lots of upgrades that are fashionable. Dad was a GM for Nissan until retiring and got to play with owners cars abit. No Vette, but the convertibles are surprisingly agile and fun buggers too.

Good luck and keep us posted! The 370's are nice. Great interiors/etc. My buddy has a Nismo 370, pearl white, and it is very nice. Great driver and enough power to have some fun with...

(good move financially too!)

Haha a 370Z starts at like 32k and a nismo is 41k.

Down sizing is definitely a good idea these days. Cant wait to see the new car!

Sorry to hear the Vette is going. IMO, the coolest car you can buy right now for the money is the Dodge Challenger with the 470 HP HEMI engine. Add the aftermarket Superbird nose and rear wing pieces, and you have a dream car. The Dodge Challenger is a great looking car and even seats 4. The Challenger is around 30k. Honestly, I prefer the looks of the Challenger to the Vette, and when you put the those Superbird parts on, it's one of the coolest looking cars in the world, for any price, IMO.

I'll be paying half that. :)

Well if I could buy a lower mileage 370Z for around $25K, I'd be interested as well. When I shopped around I saw the 370Z at the dealer, test drove it, then immediately asked them if they had any GT-R's in the lot... That Z just made me want a little more, but it was a fantastic handling car with great power throughout. The $53K price tag was what drove me away, not the car itself. If you can get one of half that, it sounds like a score to me.

Post some pics!

At a BMW dealership. Just picked up an 09 brilliant silver metallic 370z. No paintwork. 8k miles, sports package, manual tranny, with plenty of DISO!!!!

Ick. In my opinion, the problem with the challenger is it is way to thick vertically. If they took the body and squished it 4-6 inches, it would be a sick looking car. As it is, it looks very cheap and tacky to me.

i dont understand why some feel this is a downgrade? why? because a vette is a "vette"?

dont get me wrong i love vette's but one man's trash is another man's treasure and to each their own are two of my favorite saying's.

do whatever makes you happy i say. i catch #### for modding cavalier's on what seems like a daily basis. do i care? nope. :)

you'll be happy with the Z. it has a decent amount of power stock, tons of aftermarket (it's a little pricier than others though), and will handle a lot better than a corvette. As you probably know, the Z is more about going fast on the twisties while the vette is meant to go fast in a straight line. I had a 350z with a some considerable upgrades. Just an FYI, don't try running boost unless you build up everything. They don't play with FI very well unless you do.

I agree, I wouldnt own an American car again unless it was a Ford and even then I probably wouldn't buy American. it only took them how long to catch up with the foreign market as far as hp/L goes... and the new American "muscle cars" have interiors that are mostly plastic it seems.

What a great car, I thought about getting one myself. The silver will definitely be less maintenance. Congrats and good luck with it Mark.

Can't wait to see the AFTER pictures of the DISO. Any positive financial decision is always a good one. Enjoy the ride.
