Most regretted detailing product purchase

Eh I'm not so picky about MF being made in Korea anymore. I love my Buff and Shine waterless wash and Chinchillas and they're made in China. Even the Griots PFMs aren't Korean, made in Vietnam.

Carpro anything (so far). Sorry CP fanboys and shills. I hated reload. Still do. I was told reflect was the best thing since sliced bread. It didn't come close. CQUK was a pita and I ended up polishing it off. To date I've never been able to get the results I want on the first, second, or even third attempt. That's been my experience and some will say I'm nuts. I'm cool with that. I only use products that work every time on every paint in any environment ....the first time. Yes there are such products and that's all I have on my shelf.

I tend to like most of the stuff I have tried from them. TarX, Eraser, HydroFoam, Hydro2, Ceri Glass, rayon glass pads, Iron X, Fast Glass Towels, are all top of the line.

On the other hand, I wouldn't even get involved with Reload or CQ...

Like you, once I get a whiff of any product being finicky or difficult to work with - I just skip it. There have been numerous peeps that have had issues using these products, and there are like a zillion and one other things on my shelf I can use.

DLux is a touchy subject. While the longevity is excellent, IME it can damage trim in the long run (years) - so I don't use it anymore.

The BOA towels lint when used with waxes or oily polishes for me, but I still like them and use them for different things.

I would never be interested in CarPro polishes or pads. For stuff like this, I just prefer to go with people who focus just on polishing: Rupes, Menz, BnS, etc....

I'm really confused about this new Reflect AIO polish CP makes. It's supposed to be an "AIO" polish/prep/glaze/sealant prior to using a coating...

But, if it hides defects, why would you want to use it prior to a coating?

If it's an AIO, why is the beading so poor (per what I have read)?

Then some peeps say it's great and some say it sux. Dunno.

Reset I don't understand either. If their coatings are so great and shed dirt so easily, why do you need a super strong soap to clean them? You should be able to use any soap.

Something has changed with the BOA's recently, and not for the good.

Reset is pH balanced, so not sure how it's super strong? It's a good shampoo.

Essence can be used as a standalone, but it's more geared as a coating primer. Never liked CarPro polishes, anyhow. Fixer sucks and so does Reflect.

Mine were from when they first came out and they always linted for me.

On the other hand, I love the Cobra 530 and 600 GSM towels. My go to for paint. Mine are years old and still great.

pH balanced is my favorite BS Lol. Any soap that you dilute a few ounces in FIVE GALLONS will be pH neutral.

But, I'm sure it's a good soap. I have never used it. I just don't know why you need special soaps to clean a coating nothing is supposed to stick to, but I can wash my waxed cars with any soap.

Mebbe it's just marketing.

Fixer sucks and so does Reflect.

Tell us how you really feel. Love it.

Another bash on CarPro products, their glass pads.

While they get the work done, the back of the pads that goes to the Velcro of the backing plate, is trash, it broke after trying to remove it from the backing plate (I did it gently btw).

I can tell you, without a doubt, they tell you to use it with coatings because there's no gloss enhancers added that could affect the beading/sheeting of the coating. This may be true. However, there's other shampoos without added gloss enhancers that are cheaper and will work just as good. For example, I'm picking up 3D Pink Soap to replace Reset. $18 for a gallon.

Use to wash before recoating or topping a coating..leaves no waxes or polymers behind,

PERL by far!!! Doesn't last and leaves trim white after a little rain. Way better stuff out there.

The new Flex FE 7, or whatever it's called. POS didn't even make it through a mid 2000s Honda hood that was pulled from a junkyard. Guy replaced his damaged hood with this one, severely oxidized. Did fine on the 1st half of the hood. Started the 2nd 1/2 & upon starting the machine, black specks flew out of the housing. So I stop, wipe up the mess, & try again. Speed 5, Menzerna SG400 & LC Thin Pro pads. Happened again. Machine was warm, so I let it cool some. Don't really have time for that, but shame on me, I left my 3401 at home. I was just doing a hood, for crying out loud. Once it cooled some, I completed 2 more section passes without incident. Once I got up by the cowl, the machine started walking, hard. Totally flat, I had to physically hold it from walking. Shut it off, changed pads & went back at it. Same results. F this pos, I went home & grabbed the 3401 to finish what light weight couldn't handle.

I ran into the same issue with my XFE and went back to using my 3401s. I haven't found time to open it up and see what's going on yet. Have you found out the cause or a fix?

Poorboys black hole didn't work at all. I tried three times with different application and applicators. Also, tuf shine tire coat. It is nice product for cars probably which are garaged parked and driving on the smooth roads. In my real world with bumpy drive and parked outside lasts up to 30 days, mostly tires black because they just clean/ed :(

All of CG products seem to be a waste of money... Just my Opinion though

The CG stuff gets a bad rap. I'm guessing part of that comes from their over-hype marketing strategy, and part is the ineffectiveness of some of their products. I use VRP for my tires and really like it.
