Most regretted detailing product purchase

Duragloss Enviroshied......I prepped quite well and it appears to be dead. I have huge bird bomb etching from a turd that wasn't on the car very long at all. I put it on in the spring and beading/shedding and apparently protection is very diminished.

I have DG coating doing pretty well after 10 months or so. Have you clayed it? Claying DG and CQuartz UK coatings brought them back to sheeting water after winter.

Nope, I am sure I read that it should not be clayed, but I could be very wrong. Either way, the bird bomb got through it.

Most Regretted? Back to Black.

Ok, but you should specify which Back to Black product you're referring to.

The reason is, while some of the product line has been rightfully panned, the cleaners ( Trim Cleaner and Tire Renewal) are considered by many here to be some of the best available.

can't say i'm too impressed (or at all) with the stoners visible shine coating wash. won't be buying it again. however, i do look forward to trying the mckee's 37 sio2 auto wash which can be used in the sun which is a plus living here in the southern california where you either have to wake up early to wash or do it later in the evening when the sun starts to go down...

Aquapel. Although it has incredible performance, I’ve never used a product that requires so much attention to apply correctly. It’s simply not worth the effort, especially if you’re in a production environment or are a professional.

32oz bottles of compound or polish. Geez, what was I thinking, that someday I'd have a fleet of buses to do?

Lol!

Same here.... I loved the 16oz bottles, but Menzerna discontinued theirs when they went to the ugly labels, and most vendors stopped carrying the Rupes.

3 years ago I'd just purchased a new car, listened to a family member who got suckered into buying this at a gas station where the company had put up a tent. They did a demonstration on his car and he was mesmerized............ so I bought it

A month later I found Autogeek and realized how crappy this can of compressed crap was.......

That's funny. A couple of years back, these ding-a-lings were set up at my local gas station as well.

When I pulled up to the pumps, I see this (lets just say "Rep") quickly walk over to my truck with a dirty rag and pull the cap off of this can of crap like he was going to demonstrate it on my fender.

I stuck my head out of the window and said "If one molecule of that crap hits this truck, you're in for a really, really bad day".

He took the intended message and backed off. Then he said "Looks like you already used it"

Yeah, ok brainiac. Lol

Simoniz clay mitt! I went to use it this weekend and it was stuck to the plastic packaging! I guess it somehow got left somewhere hot and the thing melted itself! Got a refund and ordered a proper mitt by Chemical Guys

I had the same problem with a couple EagleOne clay mitts. Had I pulled them quickly I would have destroyed them. I took my time and managed to save them.

I think that’s a thing with any of the clay mitts/towels. I’ve seen in other threads where people talk about turning the mitts inside out. I store my Griot’s mitt face up in a big take-out Tupperware style container I got from a Mexican restaurant. That way nothing contacts the clay surface even if I put stuff on top of it.

i use the backing of skateboard griptape paper which is similar to wax paper and my clayblock doesn't stick...

My griots handheld synthetic clay met the same fate, sat in the sun for less than an hr and melted. Totally ruined.
