I think I was dry buffing at the beginning. after a 1/4 of the vehicle, I started spraying the pad off with the hose and spin drying it on my old rotary every panel.

here you can see how oxidized it was compared to how shiny the paint is underneith the hood bra. There was alot of damage underneith the bra.
