SERIOUS detailer in the market for a Steamer.... looking to buy in the next 30 days or less.... please help with your opinions

I went with the Vapor Chief 100. I've had the Vapor Chief 100 for about a year now. The continuous refill option is very nice. I went through 3 of the little McColloch consumer grade steamers in the past 4 years because they always clog up and get a bunch of mineral build up inside the boiler...

    Layering CarPro CQuartz+Essense Plus+CQuartz

Essence+, as others have mentioned, cannot be used as a primer for CQuartz coatings. Instead, in your case, it would ideally be used as a way to revive the hydrophobic properties of your coating without needing to go through the entire CQ install process again. You can even use Essence+ with a...

Best way to remove cured resin from paint

Denatured alcohol has worked the best for me in pretty much all occasions when dealing with dried, baked-on tree sap. Saturate a soft microfiber towel with denatured alcohol and cover the areas contaminated with sap. Leave it to dwell for 20-30 seconds, then rub gently to remove the softened...

    Correcting edges

I do the same. Knock out larger areas first and then work through all the edges with a 3" or 2" tool to get edge to edge perfection.

Ooooh that smell: Favorite smelling products

My clients always love if they walk by while I'm cleaning windows with Meg's glass cleaner.

Which is better for a final polish?

The best thing to do is perform a test spot with your cutting compound and then go over the same 'test spot' area with one of your finishing polishes. If the finish looks good you now have a game plan for the rest of the vehicle.

CarPro Essence Plus on Uncoated Paint

All summer I was just ramming the fleet through the local touchless wash because I was too busy to deal with washes. Beading fell off slightly but everything still looks glossy and if I slide a towel over the paint I can tell the product is still there.

    Windshield washer additives/boosters

I've recently been using the Rain-X washer fluid additive. It works surprisingly well for an OTC product. The only thing I noticed is after a few months of usage the product was building up on the wiper blades causing them to squeak. After a quick alcohol wipe over the rubber blades everything...

    CQUK curing

Reload is the perfect companion to any CarPro coating. Used often enough it will continuously enhance the gloss, slickness, and scratch resistance of the surface. As others have stated it also serves as an extra layer of sacrificial protection while the ceramic layers finish curing.

    New Carpro Clear Cut compound

In my limited testing with ClearCut I am convinced this is a game changer. Using as directed I was able to get full correction on a hammered Nissan Altima with a microfiber cutting pad on the Rupes21 with almost zero marring. Using a foam pad and working the compound through several cycles I was...

    Biggest Pet-Peeves in Detailing?

#1 pet peeve: Water dripping out of a piece of trim and onto the panel while I'm polishing.

    Question about essence

IMO the longer you can let Essence cure the better. The main issue with waiting too long would be that you'll accumulate paint contaminates that will need to be dealt with prior to installing the coating. If you leave you're car parked in the garage for 3 months before applying the coating I see...

    Pad discoloring...dirt? Other?

Sometimes if you pick up a lot of grime from a neglected car it will be difficult to totally clean the pad out. Maybe try pressure washing the pad? I used to not like that the face of my used pads looked dirty but it honestly doesn't impact performance at all. As long as you have cleaned out...

    Pad discoloring...dirt? Other?

White pads usually get stained and just stay that way. It's even worse if you're working with single stage paint. Most of my pads are perma-pink from working on so many red vehicles with single stage paint.

    Pad discoloring...dirt? Other?

It's likely contamination within the pores of the paint that you are cleaning from the surface by polishing. Quite normal and nothing to worry about! Quality foam pads will last for 20+ uses with proper care and cleaning.

    Customer response, feedback please!

If someone mentions another detailer trying to haggle for a better price I literally wouldn't even waste my time to respond. You get what you pay for, period.

    Carpro Essence first time use???

IME Essence produces a glossier finish and finishes down significantly better than M205. This is especially evident on softer finicky paints like on gloss black b-pillars. But you're right, comparing these two products is not a fair comparison because they are designed for completely different...
