Lauren, The plastic is carpet wrap. It can be found at any home repair store. In new homes you lay the wrap down on the carpet to keep stains and etc off the new carpet while the home is shown. It is very tacky but comes off with limited residue. It was tested to 135 by us and 165 by another...
