Will we get over our addiction?

I went off the rails when I first discovered how to properly detail a car. I bought a lot of products (some that did not live up to their claims, but a vast majority that worked quite well). I went through several random orbital polishers as well. Now, I will try something only if I feel it...

    OMG: Wipe New

I did use it on the bottom rubber trim on my wife's CR-V. I found that Wipe New lasts pretty long (I doubt 100+car washes long) but it help up well throughout the Summer.

    Mustang vs challenger

While I prefer the driving dynamics of the 2015 Mustang, the Challenger is also a tremendous value. We really live in a golden age of muscle cars. Think about it, the base engines have 300+hp and you have can reliable 500-650+hp that idles, runs, and drives with no issues. ( I remember starting...

    What really grinds your gears

Living in the NorthEast, the upcoming winter reeks havoc on my daily drivers. Right now the weather will vary that is it next to impossible to predict when and if I can clean a car. Brine solution (while better than salt in the past) is difficult to remove. As an aside, I hate seeing a car...

Winter car care!!! What are you going to be doing?

Pretty much what "frankprozzoly" said. I always try to time my last fun detail in mid to late October and then just maintenance washes/quick wax during the winter months (weather permitting). Rinseless washes are also invaluable during this time.

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-expert-featuring-mike-phillips/25304-secret-removing-oxidation-restoring-show-car-finish-antique-single-stage-paints.html This is the best tutorial I have seen for restoring single stage paint. Tesla Model S - Opti-Coat Pro - Oklahoma

Fantastic job on the new Tesla. I was fortunate to participate in a drive event with the Tesla and was blown away on how well that car drove. It really is a credit to that company that their first clean sheet design is so well executed. (BTW, I am definitely not in the target demo for a new...

Getting rid of foggy, haziness in headlights

Basically you should just let the sandpaper do the work (minimal pressure) . I will alternate the direction of sanding when I step up to different grade of sandpaper.

I have only purchased one brand new car. The rest of my car purchases have been cars usually 1-2 years old.

What day do you typically wash your car?

As the weather seems to change hourly in the Mid-Atlantic, I will wash my cars when I know the temperature is nice and the chance of rain is minimal. (Typically at dusk)

    Plasti Dip Care

PlastiDip is pretty resilient but I would recommend as gentle a process as possible to clean the wheels. Kudos to "Cfiiman" for that suggestion, I have never heard of that.

What year is this Ford Mustang?

This is commonly called an SN95. Probably mid 1990's with a 3.8L V6 (do not let the Cobra badge fool you, the single exhaust is a dead giveaway). While the 3.8L V6 can be worked into a competent performer, this body style has about 150hp stock. It does look like he added a custom exhaust...

Customer wants me to fix his broken window?

I had a similar problem detailing a late 1990's VW Jetta (apparently a common problem with faulty window regulators). Fortunately, I was doing this detail as a favor for a friend and he understood (His VW suffered a multitude of quality control problems)
