My 18th trip to The Tail of the Dragon & Family trip combined!

Love the Dragon. Next time we go we’re staying at Tapoco Lodge - classic old time lodging and a cool Tavern for eating.

Mothers Carnauba paste wax stuck all over car, why?

Since you mentioned in your original post you had clayed, you’re good to go to apply wax. Apply a thin coat with an appropriate applicator to an area about 1/4th the size of the hood. It should haze up, not turn white. White would mean you’ve over-applied. The cleaners in it will remove any...

Mothers Carnauba paste wax stuck all over car, why?

I always suggest you follow the directions and apply to a small area at a time. Maybe even a body panel. The entire vehicle at once with a carnauba product? That wasn't the product's fault. Sorry.

Mothers Carnauba paste wax stuck all over car, why?

Any idea how old it is? Can you shoot a pic of the front on the can so I can get a general idea, or (even better) the back of the can, which would show me the lot number?

    What's in your backyard?

Like this one from my parent's house a few weeks ago.

Thanks to Mothers for Sponsoring Commercial-free Formula One TV Coverage !

Thanks for the kind words. We've been sponsoring the live races for a few years now, and F1 fans are enthusiastic about being able to watch commercial free. One of our big rigs is dedicated to hauling our race cars around, and for those who attend the Long Beach Grand Prix, you know we "own"...

    Mothers Pure Carnauba Wax

Thanks. 30 years of sales and about three million miles of airplane flights.

    Mothers Pure Carnauba Wax

Paste and liquid perform the same, so it’s preference. I prefer paste - I’m less likely to overapply, and paste is a better value. It’s not uncommon to get 20+ applications out of 1 can versus 3-5 out of a bottle.

    Mothers Pure Carnauba Wax

Thanks for the kind words. 05550 has been around since the late 80s. When we introduced it, we took some cans from the first batch and put them in presentation boxes for a few of our buyers. I still have one. Maybe I should donate it to the Mike Phillips vintage museum. BTW, the wax...

    Chrome polish

From the shape of the spokes, I‘d say the PowerCone would be a better choice than the PowerBall.

How do you protect rubber trim when using a sealant?

I'm a big believer in dressing the trim before applying products to the paint.

    Drying Towel Scratches

Particularly on black, try to pat-dry instead of wiping. The foam core drying towels are a good choice for this method.

    Window Cleaner Does Not Freeze

Better glass cleaners are alcohol based. IPA doesn't freeze until ~ -128ºF. Your best bet is to keep all detailing products from freezing. Paste wax gets destroyed. Many liquids will not go back in to suspension or emulsion once frozen. To be safe, take them all in.

Was I foolish to buy it?

We offer the Wax Attack 2 to simplify paint correction for folks who aren’t used to compounding and polishing and don’t want to invest a week’s pay in a machine. The pads and products were developed to work together, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally mixing up the pads and products...

Question on quick interior detailer products?

I think of interior detailers like paint instant detailers - no real protection but great for removing dust, fingerprints and sweat residue in the summer. I keep a small bottle inside a small wash mitt in my glovebox. Those little mitts from the dollar store are good for something. On average...

    Mother Back To Black Spray?

I wouldn't use Back-to-Black (either aerosol or liquid) on tires. It won't hurt anything, but there are better choices for tires. The aerosol is great on grills - so many are honeycomb with small, intricate openings. And the cowling at the base of the windshield is another area where it...

Review: Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish - Exhaust Tip Polishing - RUPES Nano

I'd guess the tips are stainless, based on the black residue. Chrome wouldn't generate black residue. And yes, there is a substantial difference between Mag & Aluminum Polish, and Chrome Polish. Soft alloy vs a hard plating means you need a different polishing media.

Should I Quick Detail With Mothers Instant Detailer and Then Apply Another Coat of Optimum Wax?

It won’t degrade your wax. If it were me, I’d go for the least expensive, easiest to find product, which would be the California Gold Instant Detailer. It’ll work fine over the wax you’re using.
