What is this and can it be fixed?

Road rash for sure, I'd either clean it up real good and put a clear bra on it, or just deal with it until you get a new paint job.

Lamborghini LP640 Roadster by Oakes, with a dose of McLaren!

Looks great, what'd your neighbors think of having a LP640 in your driveway? :) *edit - just read you drove up to do the detail, Lamborghinis belong in neighborhoods with wider roads!

Probably won't get favorable feedback on this, but...

It's cheaper than clay lube, and as much as an advocate I am for using products to do the job of other dedicated products, QDs as clay lube do work a lot better than the foaming car shampoos/soaps that I've used for clay lubes.

Would menzerna 85rd remove scratches from plastic?

I thought you meant the cluster shroud. I'd just pick up some Plast-X and polish it by hand. Wal Mart should even carry it.

Would menzerna 85rd remove scratches from plastic?

Mr Clean magic eraser works for scuffs on the plastic parts on doors, so it may work for the cluster. Test in a small spot of course

Replacing supplies isn't fun, make him buy you some beer and order pizza in place of a new pad/BP :)

    hydrolic fluid on rag top

Hydraulic fluid is the same thing as brake fluid on a car. I'd pass on it as you may not be able to get it out without heavy steaming and degreasing (along with needing to reapply some convertible top protection). It'd be a stretch but you could try spilling some DOT3 brake fluid on a similar...

    Clay & Clay Experiment

By the way, you should look into buying QD concentrate in bulk, that can be crazy expensive if you keep buying it OTC.

    Clay & Clay Experiment

I saw someone do this on another forum with only moderate results. They were still able to pick up contaminants with Detailer's clay, but then again that could just be their lack of being thorough on the first pass.

I've used Meg's APC diluted on light headliners multiple times for horrendous stains and never had issues.

    Best wash mit?

I'm probably one of the only anti-wool mitt advocates. I probably treat them wrong or something, but their first use is always amazing and then after that they just turn into a tangled clumpy mess that won't absorb water. Granted it's been years since I've even tried to use one again, but the MF...

    I wish..

I actually wax panel by panel and have a little checklist with each body panel on my phone I just check off what I've already done. I do it pretty much solely for white/silver vehicles, but if I have a friend over and am working on their car with them for free, it helps keep track when you've...

Garden Hose Quick Release? Which one do you have?

I picked up some brass ones from Home Depot and Lowe's. I have one female fitting that automatically shuts off when you disconnect, and another female fitting that will let it free flow (I have another manual shut off valve in line with this one). I put male QD fittings on everything from my...

AG I nee your help EMERGENCY

Sorry I'm not local, however worst case scenario you either stop by Sears (or somewhere nearby that sells Porter Cable products) and get a 7424xp, then return it when you're done (because if you haven't had one before, you'll want to return it after 1 use when you're used to how smooth the...

BMW Matte Paint Care Instructions from the factory...

So you can wash your paint by foaming it, then rinsing it off, and then your best bet is to peg out that speedometer to dry off. Anything else will ruin your car's finish... Just when I thought "what would be harder to take care of than a black car", I guess I spoke too soon.

Engine bay paint - cleaning & detailing

I haven't had paint peel off on me in an engine bay before, however if I were you I would use a mild soap or APC/Degreaser and agitate with a brush. Tedious, yes - however I promise it is less tedious than repainting an engine bay.

Quick alternative to Brinkmann swirl finder?

Halogen work light from Lowe's or Home Depot. I bought a 1000w light for $36 and 6 replacement bulbs for another $16 not too long ago.

    Griots Stuff?

Speed shine is one of the best QDs out there (by opinion of course). Spray wax is pretty decent as well, however I personally prefer Optimum's versions of both products over Griot's (not that it matters much for the sake of this conversation). I also like their MF wash pads/mitts but you have those
