I would think this could be applied at any stage of your detail, it just depends on what you want the out come to look like. Since you mom's Expedition was on a 3 months expedition of not being washed, I would at minimum polish after clay, and then apply the sealant. I'm sure there must be some...

Ahh...lesson well learned...been there done that...LOL!! What has worked for me is Permanon...I use yet over Collinite 845 and I get beads on beads. Plus Permanon is just too easy to apply, you'll see rain drops roll off your windshield.
