Can you Believe this is a Hyundai

It does. I also thought about the Renault Clio V6.

I'm all about hot hatches and I think this would be a great way to deliver a fun to drive EV, something the market really needs.

I'm sorry, that Ionic 6 is still too weird looking for me. Even the 5 is a little weird, if I wanted that (Ioniq 5) platform I would likely go with the Kia EV6, which is more normal looking. I have noticed the Ioniq 5/EV6 have a lot less ground clearance than say, a Tucson.

The EV6 is a lot more practical from a packaging standpoint than the Ionic 6. The sloping roofline and rear area really cuts into interior space and cargo/trunk room.

I actually like the lower ground clearance on the Ionic 5 and EV6. Neither of those vehicle were intended to be off-roadable and the lower ground clearance will certainly make them handle better. I think as long as it has around 5~6 of clearance you should be good for most urban conditions including a snowy day.

Yeah my EN has 5.3" of ground clearance, no issues out here during the winter

I saw a review of this a little while back, not an off roader, but a dirt roader definitely, Ioniq 5 XRT. Slightly lifted, all terrain tyres, tuned traction control, and of course the mandatory black trim pieces.

I don't have any SUV's, but I have thought if I was going to have a vehicle that's nominally that body style, it should have a little more ground clearance to go with it. Keeping with the Hyundai's if I recall when I looked this up the Tucson had a couple more inches clearance than the Ionic 5. I'm more suburban vs. urban here, and sometimes it would be nice in a big snowstorm to have a little more ground clearance. I just looked up the Chevy Equinox EV and it's 6.4".

According to what I found, the XRT has 7" of ground clearance, about 1" over the standard 5, with a softer suspension tune as well.

The KIA EV6 is a very wide car up close had a look at one and a EV6 GT but my back couldn't take the race seats.

They should put those tires and that slight lift on the Ioniq 5N and you'd have a true spiritual successor to the Group B rally cars of the '80's! It would be competitive with the new 911 Dakar and WAY cheaper...and useful if you want to haul stuff and people. The Ford Mach-E Rally is a similar idea.

I could see that depending on where you live.

In my area, I can easily get around in my BRZ with good tires and it's 5" of clearance. They take good care of our roads. My daughter however lives in the suburban Denver area and there are several times this winter she's needed every inch of the 8" in her Cross Trek to get home from work several times. She had a Fit, before moving there for work and had to get the Subi in order to get too/from work. The Fit just wouldn't cut it.

Well, looking into this a little more, my AWD sedan has 6.5", while the Ioniq 5 is 6.1, and the Tucson is 8.3.

8" seems to be pretty standard for most mainstream SUV's. I was helping my oldest daughter shop for cars last year and she and my son-in-law were looking from something with just enough clearance for them to take some dirt roads to the hiking tailheads they frequent in the mountains. Nothing crazy, but just enough to get around the ruts and bits of exposed rocks.

I found just about everything was in the 8" range. All the non-Wilderness Subies, Mazda CX5 and CX50, Rav4, CR-V, the Tucson, etc. Should be plenty for that use and they don't have to worry about measurable snow.
