I think that your post here says a lot, and it tells me that the best decision would probably be to keep your G35. It is a great car in great condition. If I'm going to be buying a new vehicle, I want to be darn sure that there is no doubt in my mind that I *really* want (need?) to do this.
If you are really considering keeping your current car, that's exactly what I would do, and wait until something else comes along that you simply MUST HAVE! I don't get that feeling from you now with regard to either the Mustang or the M3.
When you get to the point that all you can do is think about a certain car, and you join an internet forum dedicated to that car, and you dream about that car night after night and can't get it out of your mind....then you are ready to take the plunge!
This is how it has been for me for more than 25 years now.
Having said all that, I am a driver who prefers handling above all else. Of course a car that handles like it is on rails won't be all that fun if it is a dog. But that isn't the case with the M3, even though it won't be as fast as the Mustang.
Do the new Mustangs *still* have the live rear axle?
I've never driven a Mustang that handled very well. <flame suit on>
One of my favorite convertibles to date is the S2000. its quick, looks good and is reliable. not to mention they are a blast to drive. But Ive been racing since i was 7 years old. So my opinion on a drivers vehicle is a bit different.
Pretty sweet G you have there. However, the new 5.0's are very good cars, all around. Ford did a great job on them!
If you have the money just burning a hole in your pocket...keep the g and add a twin turbo kit to it. Now that will bring miles of smiles. The g is such a classic, beautiful shape....

interesting.....might have to agree with this one.
Yes, I've considered that too... I have a buddy that is from Missouri, and is friends with the folks at ProCharger. They can get me a blower kit (installed) for like 3500. So yes, I've thought about it... never jumped through that hoop yet though. I get worried about the reliability and devaluing my G when it comes time to sell it.
And thanks for the comment on the shape of the G. I have to agree... esp with the stock exhaust sound... you're making it harder for me to justify the new purchase!![]()

Pretty simple choice IMO. The 5.0 is fast. In fact, its very fast for a stock car. But I cannot handle the cheap plastic American interior. The M3, great car, great handling, but reliability???
If I were you I'd stick with the G35. I hope its a stick. That said, I'd pass on the procharger. Come on down to Atlanta. You have 3 solid choices of tuners. Batlground, TopSpeed, and...Forged. I've driven supercharged, turbo'd, and stroker g's. My favorite being a stroked and blown one. Kits run about 10k, plus install for turbo's. Don't forget you'll need more clutch, tires, and other supporting mods as well. Can be a BIG expense.
Speed costs money, how fast do you wanna go?![]()
So......
I think you should keep the G and DON'T bother spending any money modding it. You mentioned that you would like a Z06 but it is currently out of your price range. Enjoy the G for what its worth, and keep working toward the car of your dreams.
Ok for my two cents...
I am assuming that you do not plan on taking either the M3 or 5.0 to the track every weekend, and that this will be more of a fun daily driver.
The 5.0 definitely has impressive numbers, while the numbers look nice on paper, it doesn't really matter if you can get from 0-60 in 4.4 or a 1/4 in 12.8 seconds. I don't care what anyone says the Mustang will blend in with every other Mustang on the road. 95% of people on the road will not be able to appreciate what the GT provides over the base model.
The M3 is definitely one of my favorite all around cars on the road. The question you have to ask yourself is do you want to worry about possible reliability issues and high service costs. The M3 is less common than a Mustang, and would probably attract more looks overall.
So......

Some of this is a bit harsh, but I find myself agreeing with pretty much all of it.
....
As far as your comment on waiting and saving for the car of my dreams... I hate to break it to ya, but for me, I will NEVER afford the car of my dreams. For that matter, it's carS (plural) of my dreams. A Ferrari, a Porsche 911 GT2RS, a Lambo Murcielago, Audi R8, I could go on.
...
You do have good taste in cars! Since you are considering a Mustang, I wasn't so sure.oke:
And yes....that was a joke!
