While there are some really good detailing products on the market, there are also some not so great ones.

I would like to hear some thoughts and have a good product discussion about products that we were not impressed with.

I always find these type of discussions interesting and fun.

I'll go first

1. D151 PRC - Pain to apply and remove and is way too thick. Makes me angry trying to squeeze it out of my secodary bottle.

2. Mothers Showtime - Streaks and terrible smell.

3. G110v1 - Two units went out on me in less than a year, loud, ratchety, and the v2 is having serious problems already as well. I'll take a PC anyday of the week.

Its funny you mention the Mothers Showtime. Its weird because whenever I would used it combined with the Mothers Clay bar, it smelled like Big Red Cinnamon gum hahahah. However yes, it does streak like a nasty toilet bowel

On the other hand, as for removing surface materials, i give it an A for sure!

I'll throw Poor Boy's Natural Look into the mix. I got a sample sent with an order because they didn't have any trim restorer left. So I decided to give it a shot on my leather seats. While it smells great it left them looking way too glossy after a thourough buffing and they're almost sticky to the touch. I'll stick with my 303 thank you very much.

Leather Stuff is their leather care product. I wouldn't use NL on my seats. :nomore:

Poorboys NL looks fantastic on my dash an center console never tried it on leather.

I partially disagree. I think it works great, but like you said it's super thick and sometimes troublesome to get out of the bottle. Performance is great though.

This is a good thread.

I disliked most of the TW ICE products. Their interior cleaner and wash weren't bad though. Not the best, but not the worst... more on the average side.

i would have to say cobra microfiber towels. IME after a short while, they lint very badly to a point where i just threw them away (it hurts to do it and is like throwing $'s away). while i would like to purchase some more, i can't bring myself to do it considering the cost (they aren't cheap) as well...

+1

And PB NL is great for interior plastics... I use pinnacle stuff on leather though.

I initially missed this. I share your sentiment, I had three different units fail me. I've been hesitant to purchase a new V2 because of it. My PCXP and Griot's are both great though. :xyxthumbs:

The single most dissapointing product I've used is the spray nozzle that comes with the autogeek/gilmour foam guns. Holy CRAP is that a terrible handle. The spray pattern is crazy and it's very difficult to get a wide spray out of it. It's almost mandatory to get a quick disconnect for it to put a different sprayer on.

FWIW, D151 PRC is one of my FAVORITE products, lol (and I use it by DA)

I agree...the wash and Interior cleaner/dressing are the only ICE products that I like.

I found that you dont really need the gun portion with the foam guns. Just get a Dramm 300 shutoff and a couple quick connects. You have a shutoff point to control foamer and other nozzles, and you can quickly snap in and out any nozzle or wand with ease too.

I'll definitely try that, because I LOVE the autogeek foam gun (use it on every detail) but hate the handle, lol.

Thanks for the idea...it seems so obvious now, ha ha.

Meguiar's Body Solvent, I can't get it to remove anything LOL. Even let it duel a bit before wiping.

Like some of the others, PRC (D151) I love it. I've only used it one time with a PCxp and had no issues at all with it.

I dislike the LC Compressor pads, never seemed to get the hang of using them compared to other pads.

hmmmm... this is a good thread. Since my garage is now full of items I will NEVER finish (but have tried them all). I have a few disappointing ones:

1) PB's QuickWax - streaky, and not really slick. The gloss is not really warm for a nuba.
2) Opti-seal - gloss is ok, but durability is not there. I get maybe 3 weeks out of it.
3) WG Tire Gel (black onyx?) - extremely glossy, but slings off. I use PB boldn'bright now. Love that stuff.
4) M205/M105 - maybe it's because I don't use it that much, but the couple of times I did use it, I found that the working time is very short compared to Menzerna. I use Menz stuff all the time now.
5) I'm sure there's more, but I'll wait till I get home to analyze the myriad of stuff I have...

I just wanted to comment about #4

The work time of M105 IS very short because it works in that short amount of time. It isn't necessary to have a long work time with it. It cuts quickly and is done. Menzerna has a much longer work time, but I find it convenient to get the same cut in a shorter amount of time with 105.

M205, however, has a tremendously long work time for finishing....not sure why you experienced something different. Perhaps it was exceptionally hot or dry out?
