Does your Griot's DA say PROFESSIONAL random orbital on the side?

Mine is about 2 years old and does say professional on both the box and machine. It has tons of power and will easily keep a 5.5" pad rotating on speed 4.

If the specs are the same on both machines, then it sounds like, and I think someone alluded to this earlier, is that a different supplier / manufacturer of an internal component(s) is being used. The obvious being the motor. I don't own the 6" but my Griots 3" does say 'professional' which I got Nov 2010. Might have to get one of each & perform exploratory surgery for further analysis. :)
 
Where does it say professional on the box and machine? I just quickly looked at mine and didn't see the word professional anywhere.
 
I purchased mine from Griot's about a year ago and it says professional.
Now I know I can do professional work. :laughing:

the ones that say "professional" will have it written on the box and on the casing of the polisher itself.

So does mine, except for the last 3 without the professional badge. I just ordered another professional unit on eBay, I'm anxious to say what happens.
 
I wish I knew which one autogeek is sending me haha. As for the pics on the store they show the one that is badged "professional" so hopefully thats the one that I get with my package this thursday.
 
The professional one that I just ordered, if it's as weak as the last 3 UN-professional ones I got, this thread will blow up in my face. and become moot.

lol sounds to me like you're on to something so i'm looking forward to when you receive you're new one. Regardless i'm hoping mine will say "professional" on it just so I can sleep better at night.
 
Mine says Professional Random Orbital on the box and the machine. Purchased last August at Griot's store in Tacoma.
 
Question for the people who have the ones that say professional, are they the long cord versions? Just a thought, mine is a long cord one and it says professional.

You can buy them with a 10 or 25 foot cord. Professional or non....
 
Purchased mine in December of last year. The box has professional on the label.

Mine has the short cord as the Griot's store was out of the long cord machines when I bought mine in August last year.

I sent it back to Griot's and they sent me another one. Same exact thing, noticeably under-powered compared to my first one. At that point, I got my money back. Fast forward to a couple days ago, I gave it one more shot, I ordered another one. Guess what, SAME thing as the previous two, very weak on speed 4 compared to the first one. There is absolutely ZERO doubt that my first one(new 6" GG) has more balls than the last three. I'm going to send Griot's an email with my thoughts. I doubt they will admit anything, but something is different. Just a heads up. Has anyone else noticed this?

This is probably a stupid question but have you checked the specs? Are they exactly the same?
There are more or less two "standard" powers for DA: around 500 W and around 900 W. Maybe they downgraded the motor from one to the other.
On their website the photos of the machine say "Random Orbital" and no longer "Professional Random Orbital" like they used to.
 
I bought a GG6 last month with the 25 foot cord and it says "Professional Random Orbital" on the box and the side of the machine.
 
My little grain of rice is that the word professional was making users believe it was for professional use for the avid detailer detailing every day, The machine according to griots (i'll find the email later and post it here ) is or is meant to be for the hobbiest detailing like 3 a week. This im sure was causing problems with their "lifetime" warranty hence the change in name as to the quality and build email griots that i dont have a clue about. Pardon for misspell im on my phone its horrible to type.
