Does your Griot's DA say PROFESSIONAL random orbital on the side?

Well, the one I just bought on eBay, the guy didn't have anymore in stock. I'm gonna have to find another professional unit.

That sucks. You should call around and tell the person on the phone to go and check them if possible before you place the order.

I bought mine in lated December early January of this year. The box say Professional Model. No where on the unit does it say "Professional". It does say its rated at 7 amp 850 watts. I haven't used it yet but I did fire it up and it seems to have plenty of power.

Forgot to add mine is the 10' cord model, not the 25' HD.

Ahhhhh, very interesting! Thanks! I want another one that says professional on the side of the casing(like the one I have now).

The ladies like it that way. :p

He likes to detail everything, even his face!:) :D Plus where we live in So Cal you can't have too much facial hair, or sometimes in the summer your face will want to melt, too damn hot! I had a beard one summer, never again!

FYI just got my GG DA, doesn't say Professional on the side, just the box. Ordered/delivered last week.

I purchased mine about 2 years ago and LOVED it! Was my go to after the Flex. Power to spare. Had a problem with the 'hub' stripping out and backing plates flying off. Sent it back to Griot's, great experience, replaced the unit...

Now I thought I was crazy cuz I was so used to my Flex, but after I received the replacement from Griot's I was not as happy with it.

Now I know why...if this pans out, I will know for sure.

Mine seems to have just a touch more power than my 7424XP...

When I had my GGRO6,it did have "Proffesional" on the units housing. It seemed it had plenty of power.
The speed variable button broke so I sent it back.Bought the FLEX3401 for my DA and sold the replacement GG6.

If AG is still selling the "Professional" version it would be due to the fact that they order x amount at a time and they might not have sold all of them by now. I remember seeing pics of tons of PCXPs when they were expanding. It was mind boggling. Mark I have a Griot's Dealer about 20 minutes fro me me and I got the Griot's 6" 2 years ago from them. If you would like I can run over there sometime this week and check to see if they are still selling the "Professional" version for you.

That would be nice :)

Keith,

Rick is receiving a shipment tomorrow and he's gonna check for me. Great guy!

It's important to know that there are GG's still being sold with "professional" on the box, yet the polisher doesn't have professional on the side casing. My thinking is, the changed units are being packaged in the professional boxes while some that don't say professional. Whatever Griots did to change the power of the polisher was done at least a year ago. Also, on the units that aren't stamped with professional, the speed recommendations(on the polisher) are different than the ones that are stamped professional.

Most probably... this is not the first thread that pops up about this matter... I remember posting in one like this a couple of months ago..... but it seems the idea is more solid on everybody heads now as more people now used both versions of the machine and opinions are the same..... comunity is a strong thing... :dblthumb2:

I bought mine about a year ago . It says random orbital on the side but professional on the box.
It is extremely strong and never bogs down under pressure .
Mine came with the extra long cord .

This sounds right ^

If this detailing thing doesn't pan out maybe you could be a private detective or something cause I think you've unraveled a crime scene

Yeah, I dunno if it's a crime scene or just a running change to the product. It could be the original version ran too hot and they were having durability issues so they reduced the power. Or more likely, they did this for COST purposes when they went back for the second batch of units. I don't think it was an intentional bait-and-switch, but what do I know.

So looking at mine, it says professional on the side and it came from Amazon about a year ago. Might be worth checking out.

I ran the dog urine out of it mine for over 2 years and never had an issue. I was expecting the new unit to preform the same. Within the first 10 seconds of using the new one I knew I had a problem

I recommended this machine (the old one) to a lot of ppl, but can't do that any longer

Sounds like they (the factory) wanted to jack up the price on the second batch, so Griot's elected to make it cheaper/less powerful. Same demise as the UDM, if you remember, it was more powerful than a PC, but when they went back to buy more, it was so expensive that they decided not to do it and the UDM became a badge-engineered PC. It was Lynn Phillips who fielded that question back in the previous incarnation of Autopia Car Care.com and reported on the associated forum at that time.
