As a WAG, I have some 5 gal buckets going on maybe 2 decades....
Sure the plastic carrier on the handle has broken, but those are replacable
The replacements are even -nicer- than the originals as the barrel is thicker

Fast forward to my dee-ziner buckets. I knew it was thin.....I just threw it into one of my orders as as filler for shipping if I recall.
It's the translucent clearish type.
It's so thin than after 2 or 3 years of the weekly washes, the hole where the handles go into have been stretched too wide - to the point that the hook insertion falls right out.

If only USP did a free shipping promo....I'd be all in for more buckets

I have been washing cars for many years. I have never bought a bucket. I have always used empty drywall buckets that I have obtained at construction sites. I put the better handles on them.

Should a Free Ship ever come back, I would not hesitate buying their 6G bucket to to replace my 5....
I've been wanting that slight extra capacity but spoiled by Prime on shipping, and besides...USP shipping rates are atrocious.

Mine hold a l little over 4 gallons but rarely put more than 3 gallons in them. That's heavy enough and enough volume for my needs.
3 gallons is 25 lbs. 5 gallons is 41 lbs. 6 gallons would be 50 lbs.

I have one 6 gallon bucket from dog food that I have a “bucket seat” on and I use it to sit and do wheels

My wash buckets are all plain translucent white cheap food grade 5 gallon buckets with magic marker fill lines

Several have Gamma Lids for rinseless and bucket soap

The 6G would benefit most on the wheel wheel scrub. I get maybe 2 wheels before I need to top off the bucket.....when I dip it to clean/get new soap. Overall length of the media on the stick (with dirt guardz installed) is pretty much bottom out to the top of the bucket

You need a roll-y chair. I got one of mine at Sears, the other one was from MSC (which were identical, except for the color), and I recently got one from Harbor Freight that wasn't bad.

Holy cow, these got more expensive since last year, I'm sure it was only around $80 then. I want to say the ones I got 20 years ago, which were made in the US, were $50-ish, but I could be wrong. https://www.harborfreight.com/professional-adjustable-shop-seat-with-tool-storage-red-58449.html

Anyway, I like 3.5 gallon buckets.

X2. I scribe 1 gallon, 2 gallon, 3 gallon and 4 gallon lines into the outside plastic and then fill those scribe lines in with a magic marker.
My wheel bucket is a separate bucket with maybe 2 gallons of plain water and my wheel cleaning brushes and mitts. I pull out the tool i want and then spray that tool with foam from one of my foaming pump sprayers after use then that tool goes back into the plain water till i use it on the next wheel/ tire.
