If you could only have ONE DA...which one?

Griot's reliability is hit or miss. It's the most powerful of them all, though. I like the G110v2 as well. Go with the Griot's if you want the most power. Bith the G110v2 and Meg's are noticeably more powerful than the PCXP.

Only the Meguiar's G110v2 has a cruise control circuit; it's better at keeping rotation going when running at various speeds, not just when running wide open.
 
Kris, get the GG man...end of story.

I own the original PC...and a Griots...and a Flex and have used the Megs G2.

The PC is nice n light and works well for polishing or spreading wax, but weak under pressure like you said.

Flex is great but sometimes you want a DA...especially if you use the Megs MF set up (which is sweet btw). Price is high..i waited a good long time till i found a great deal and went for it. I like the machine but the head gets SUPER hot so you have to be careful not to burn urself.

The Megs i borrowed from someone...and maybe it was how he packed it...but the wiring was bad...if i didn't hold the wire a certain way it would short out and stop...he kept it in the megs bag...and wasn't THAT old...but still.

GG DOES have lifetiem warranty and you can grab one for like $100 or less on amazon if you wait for a deal..or on AG if you want one NOW lol. I usually dont have to go over speed 5...for anything. Runs very smooth...the plastic body does look kinda cheap...with the orangeish color on it..but a DA that cuts out on you or doesn't do as good of a job looks CHEAPER lol.

Ya, GG failed on me After a couple hours. Luckily Dwayne at AG made everything right. I would have switched it for another GG at the time but the vibration was so terrible that I decided to opt for the Flex. The smooth operation, well built machine, and well placed controls have made it so I never look back.

It's true GG has a lifetime warranty which is great but if it's the only machine you have you better buy 2 of them so you can still use one while the other is being repaired or replaced.... Unless you like using your hand to finish the car your in the middle of polishing... Oh, I would buy some anti-vibration gloves if going with the GG as well.

To be fair maybe my failed GG was an exception?? All I know is my one experience with it... Bought brand new, vibrated like a lunatic, failed within a few hours.
 
I tested the GG and thought it sounded, felt and performed like a pos. I just wouldn't ever buy one for myself....I had the flex in my basket the last order but it didn't make it to my final check out lol

Honestly, I have the Flex 3401, GG6, and the G110v2. I've JUST been using the GG6 and G110v2 for about 3 months straight. I haven't touched the Flex 3401. I was polishing last night with the G110v2, but decided to give the Flex 3401 a try. I switched a 5.5" yellow B&S pad from the G110v2 to the 3401. Holy cow, the 3401 was all over the place! I forgot how much you have to fight this polisher!! It was like a freight train out of control! The forced rotation really does a number on it! Trust me, it had nothing to do with technique! I think the B&S yellow pad had something to do with it because the foam is fairly dense which makes it harder to control, but still, I forgot how wild the 3401 can be. I also got a better finish with the G110v2. With the invention of the Meg's MF system, I can get BETTER cut with my G110v2 compared to anything I've ever used on the 3401. I really have no desire to use the 3401 anymore.

i have been doing the same thing..almost feel like selling the flex sometimes as it just sits there
 
have a pc and just use it to clean carpit now lol flex is the way to go. but I am like you the price is to much for me wright now. But some day.

Ask Master detailer if he is up for a trade first though. He doesn't have one.

Btw: getting correction faster with your other DA is ineteresting to me. I guess some tools don't work the same for some people... "Find something you like and use it often" MP :)
 
Griots, lifetime warranty rocks and its the most powerful of all the non-forced rotation DA's.
 
lets see, 8 yrs ago went from a Cyclo to PC, stuck with the PC till Megs released the 110, sold the PC. used the 110 till V2 came along bought that sold the 110. 3 v2's later picked up a GG last yr. when I sent the 3rd v2 back for repairs. now the GG is primary polisher. v2 is used for wetsanding and have a Cyclo and a PCXP collecting dust on the shelf
 
we have 2 griots, new meg and sold the flex.
griots have been trouble free going on 6 months of everyday use.
megs g110v2 is only a month old. the cruise control makes it every bit as powerful as the griots, in fact prefer it with the mf system since you dont have to bump the speed up to maintain rotation under heavy pressure, that way when you back off the pressure it isn't spinning way too fast. My g110v2 is noticeably louder than the griots, high pitched whine. The sound it makes under pressure makes me wonder if it will fail sooner than the griots.
bottom line either griot or meg would do the job, depends on what system you use.

totally agree with others. the flex, while a nice machine, is a handful to operate at times. and does not like the new mf system which we use daily.

Agreed, and it's exactly what I did! Love the power, hate the quality.


I would go with the G110v2 if I were in the market for a DA today. I'm on GG6 number 3 right now and the first two broke within a few weeks of using them (2-3 cars). I had the Flex for a couple years and while it's a very capable tool, it just wasn't for me and I can achieve the same results with a traditional DA...I sold it this spring.

I find that buying detailing equpment is like buying photography equipment. You buy an inexpesive tripod and then you don't feel it's sturdy enough. So you buy a better one. Eventually you buy the one you really wanted in the first place, except you already bought one or two you no longer need. In the end it's usually cheaper to buy the one that has the best quality. I started with the Megs and eventually bought the Flex. I use the Megs now for 4 inch pads.
As far as being able to handle the Flex, I think it's all in people's minds. People read that it's hard to handle and get afraid of it. I like the way it feels. It's heft makes it steadier then the Megs in my opinion. Not to make anyone feel bad, but my wife learned how to use the Flex in about 15 minutes. Now with the two of us working, details take half the time.

The Flex being hard to handle is just like getting on a pair of ice skates after being off of them for several years. It's no different then grabbing a rotary after not using it for some time either. It's not that it's really hard to control, it just feels all over the place when you are so used to the smooth movement of traditional DA's. The reversed rotation can throw you off a bit too. After using it for a minute or two though it will start to come back to you and you'll settle right in. I think people are reading into Marks comment a little too much. ;)
 
I've had my gg6 for at least six months now, gets used a lot less then some of you but its been very reliable to me. Also you can find the gg6 with the 25 foot cord for around 99 dollars and ag will match it. So for bang for the buck the gg6 is a winner.
