The OP stated the detail was a "350" - can I assume you meant "Nissan 350Z"? In this case, Nissan's have notoriously soft paint, in fact, if I recall, that model year 350 could even have what they marketed as having "self-healing" paint. Not only does it have incredibly soft paint as compared to other paint types this product is more commonly used with, it is also one of the strongest cut products meguiar's makes and you used a rotary buffer with a heavy cutting pad.
That sounds to me like you simply had way too much muscle and it did more harm than good.
The posts in this thread have been interesting to say the least, but I'm a bit surprised this hasn't really been brought to light.
You have also provided a valuable lesson: Do not use 105 with a rotary on soft paint.
