I hope I am using this one in the proper context, according to the latin origin it seems that I might be, however the definition almost gives me the assumption it pertains to land vs being "x" in a "well-watered" state.
In order to properly wash a vehicle [before "waterless washes"] one would first have to put the vehicle in a
irriguous situation so the loose dirt particles could wash away and form lubrication and a wet surface for the soapy-sponge to clean up the remaining debris.
