New Word of the Day

The spurious claims of the Sham Wow being an excellent car drier border on fantastically flagrant folderol.

^^^^^^^An Example Of:^^^^^^^

Alliteration:

Definition:
1.the commencement of two or more stressed syllables of a word group, either with the same consonant sound or sound group; or, with a vowel sound that may differ from syllable to syllable
2.the commencement of two or more words of a word group with the same letter

Quixotic: Foolishly impractical, especially in pursuit of ideals.

The last time I came close to feeling Quixotic, was while detailing an exotic. When I felt I had completed this mission, I stepped back and exclaimed to myself: "Now this is one fine example of deluxe, delicious, deliriously-divine detailing"!!!

But I was very disheartened when the owner of this exotic, when upon arriving to pick-up his vehicle, said in no less of a manner: "Thanks a lot, Wannabe...My expensive and rare vehicle now looks like a: 'Sorry Sack of Siberian Sheep Sh!t' :(

Subjugate (suhb-juh-geyt)

Definition: overpower, defeat

Source: Thesaurus.com

Some people claim the flex 3401 subjugates due to its forced rotation, however with correct form and practice it is a dream to work with and control.

Subjugate (suhb-juh-geyt)

Definition: overpower, defeat

-OH how we mere mortals have been subjugated to the recent proliferation, and seemingly overwhelming, number of car-care-products offerings in the last few years...
-Should ones decisions, regarding which Brands' Line-ups are best intended for our use, be best left to the omnipotent, omniscient originators of these products? Or, as has been suggested: Take the time to read the 'users-of-these-products' reviews for another educated-view?

If that is an exotic car in your story, could it be a Sorry Sack of SICILIAN Sheep Sh!t? (Unless of course it happens to be a Lada, which is made in Russia.:), which, ordinarily, would not really be an exotic, unless it is the Lada Revolution concept car)

I think Quixotic refers to Don Quixote, in which case you would think it would pronounced kee-ohh- ick, and not kicks-ought-ick, because Quixote is pronounced Kee-hoh-tee, but apparently kicks-ought-ick is correct.
Parlance: A particular way of speaking or using words, esp. a way common to those with a particular job or interest.

Terms like WOWO, RIDS and swirls are examples of auto detailing parlance.

Siberian vs. Sicilian...Well...That's a pretty good point. But...

I realize that...
Whatever the former KGB organization may be currently called, they are indeed, still, some pretty tough honchos...Might not be a good idea to offend their lot.

But I'd rather not even dare to think of offending guys like this and their Organization!

Fair enough, though if all Sicilians were sheep sh!t, then to say Sheep sh!t would be redundant, because then, Sicilian would be derogatory enough. However, this is not the case.
My point of course was that Italians make exotic cars, and Russians do not, and therefore it would not make sense to refer to an exotic car as Siberian unless it had actually immigrated to Siberia. :)

Were you referring to this?

Urban Dictionary: knock-kneed, hammered-down, hollow-chested, smelly sack of Siberian sheep shit

Prestidigitation: Magical sleight of hand.

Acrasia:

Definition: Lack of self-control; excess; intemperance

Although I believe I know what's best for meeting my monthly budgeted expenses, it seems each time AGO has a BOGO I'm overcome with a feeling of acrasia...All caution, then, is thrown into the wind!
Have I no risk aversion will-power from such stimuli?!?!

(I've heard there are "shots" to assist in frontal lobe treatments...But I cringe from the thought of a needle)

^^NICE FUNX725! I think we all feel the same way! There is another site I peruse and frequent on every once in a while (not like I do here though) and they have daily sales. They are nothing like we have here, are only on one item and the people go crazy, spending lots on shipping as well because they do not have the constant ability to get free shipping as we. I can only imagine if they found this site and found the deals we get. lol

New Word of the Day: 3/6/12

Transubstantiation (tran-suhb-stan-shee-ey-shuhn)

Definition:
1. the changing of one substance into another.
2. Theology. the changing of the elements of the bread and wine, when they are consecrated in the Eucharist, into body and blood of Christ (a doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church)

I hope my example is not sacrilegious or offensive to anyone based on the second definition and my use of the W.O.D.

A compound can cause a transubstantiated effect on neglected paintwork, going from rough, dull and old to nice, shiny and new.

^^^^^^^:iagree:^^^^^^^And...
Once the Customer has personally observed this paint-work transubstantiation brought forth by the Detailer, it's as if they, themselves, experience a transubstantiation of their own...an Epiphany, as it were!

NOTE: Thanks, Tundra_10, for this "new word of the day" !

No problem! Always a pleasure, this is a fun thread for me, albeit slightly biased since I was the one that started it ;)

Epicurean: fond of or adapted to luxury or indulgence in sensual pleasures; having luxurious tastes or habits, especially in eating and drinking.

Penchant:A strong inclination, taste, or liking for something.

My purchase of Chemical Guys E-Zyme was a result of my penchant for prestigious products for my palette of perfumed pots of epicurean paint protection.

Whoop.. sorry my last post was at 699. I had to post again to make it a cool 700 lol!

Persnickety:

  • Placing too much emphasis on trivial or minor details; fussy.
  • Requiring a particularly precise or careful approach.

:)

Adrian Monk approves.
