Hi all... So when i came home from work today, my parents had a brand new Honda Accord (silver) and Honda CRV (white metallic) sitting in the driveway... My dad actually listened to me and told the dealership not to wash the vehicles... upon washing the CRV we noticed a little bit of marring on the hood... other than that, both vehicles paint, exterior plastic, and chrome pieces are perfect; no marring or water spots... I want to O-C 2.0 both new vehicles for him...

I currently have Optimum Hyper Polish, Hyper Compound, and GPS.... I'll probably clay the vehicles, and end up hitting them with the Hyper Polish and then O-C'ing them... Other than purchasing the the O-C 2.0 with the free MF towel, is there anything else i should think about getting?

I've got some PO85RD which might need to be used after the Hyper Polish, but that means i'll have to wash the vehicles again before the O-C 2.0 treatment... My thought is, as long as the Hyper Polish finishes out 'good', i'll go straight to O-C, as Chris from Optimum said the O-C will bond to the paint without any issues...

Any thoughts, comments, or gotcha's would be appreciated.

Even though it said that you can go directly from Optimum polish to Opticoat, I've always washed the car or wiped with Eraser.

Guess, it's piece of mind thing knowing I did everything possible for the best OC bond.

^^^ you know the more i think about it, it doesn't take very long to re-wash the vehicle, and like you said, it gives you the piece of mind... I guess the extra 25 - 30 minutes to re-wash is worth the effort. :)

Eraser and Opti-Coat I feel go hand and hand it's my go to product before applying Opti-Coat

Thanks Adam... Just looked into ordering the Eraser.... it's on backorder except for the 1 liter... which i guess i'll order and go to wal-mart or autozone and look for a spray bottle.

Eraser and foam applicators. Opti-Coat comes with one applicator but incase you drop it, you'll want some extras.

good thinking panther... my opti-seal came with 4 applicators... i think i should be good on that front... but i didn't even think about dropping it...

Put foam applicator inside baggie and wrap a shop towel around. This save on OC absorbed into foam and if you drop it just use another shop towel. The shop towel will not mar your paint. If you feel more comfortable you can use s MF suede instead of shop towel. A number of people use this method.

Thanks Doug... I think it was Chris i saw on youtube use the shop towel method. I was thinking about trying that... I might have to give it a try.

Plus you can't see the product on the foam applicator so you don't know if it's getting dry or not.

yea, that's what i was wondering about... i've used Opti-Seal about 5-6 times now, and that's my big complaint is i can't tell when the applicator is getting dry, and you can't really see the product going on the paint...

I'm thinking about offering this to someone whose car I will be detailing soon. He's moving to Cali and he's not the type to get it professionally detailed. I told him he may want to consider this, but I need to look into all the details about this product.

def sounds like something he might be interested in... I've been watching posts and reading information about O-C 2.0 for the last 4 - 6 months... With my parent's getting up there in age and i'll be moving out in the next few years, anything i can do now to eliminate the need to detail their vehicles 2 times every year will be a time saver on my end, when it's my turn to start a family.

This isnt meant to thread jack, but can you apply OC 2.0 over Dr. Colorchip immediately, or do you have to wait to apply? The Dr. Colorchip says do not machine correct for 30 days, but I plan on correcting prior to application.

can you apply wax on top of this when its dry or is there no reason to put wax on this ?

Only reason to use wax is to increase slickness. Durability of the wax will be substantially reduced. However, the water/dirt resistance of the OC will also be changed. Many people use OCW.

I ding the applicator that comes with OC way to big for the job and absorbs too much product. I you cut it in thirds you use less OC.

^^^ so you've cut it into 1/3'rds and did not wrap a shop towel around it?

I am pretty sure there FAQ says to wait 1 week. Thats what I have done so far.

I polish first, colorchip, wait one week then coat. In fact, its been a week so my drivers door is on the list to be coated today.
