Who's tired this new AIO?

What did you think?

:dunno:

Well, I've already shared my experience in other threads but I absolutely love it! When looking for a 1-step cleaner wax I tend to compare everything to my current favorite AIO which is HD Speed.

What I expect in an AIO cleaner wax is a product that dramatically increases gloss and slickness, is easy to use on soft and hard paint, is easy to remove, is trim friendly, works well with many different pads, and is an excellent value.

While I haven't had the chance to test the durability of BF 1-step I was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't at all similar to Menzerna 3n1 in the sense that it doesn't leave behind a ton of residual oils that are difficult to remove. What I love already about BF 1-step is that it provides a little more cut than HD Speed and it works GREAT with microfiber and foam.

Another point I think is worth mentioning is that it's heavily lubricated and works well with a long-throw polisher and the additionally heat associated with larger stroke machines.

I know some guys like Mckee's 360 & Meg's D166 because there is very little product to buff off with a microfiber towel. They sort of melt into the paint and don't leave an even transparent film across the surface like HD Speed and Blackfire 1-step do. Personally I prefer the latter.

Only negative is that BF 1-step is not quite as good of value as HD Speed but a little goes a long way so I personally can justify the added cost.

Excellent read and information!

Book marking this as ref info for myself.

Thanks for your input.

I just used it on my roof and it worked great. It buffs off so easy once you break the film you don't even need to do a 2nd pass with a clean. All the residue comes up the first time

Mike,

Just want to let you know that I will be polishing out a crazy purple Hellcat soon once I get over this nasty cold I have.

Plan is to use the whole Blackfire line from start to end just because I can.

1. Blackfire Compound
2. Blackfire polish
3. Blackfire sealant
4. Topped off with BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Ivory Carnauba Paste. (Wet Ice over Fire)

Hope this will give this purple Hell kitty some purple punch!

Thank you for sharing.

For those reading this into the future, if you don't own BLACKFIRE One Step, I highly recommend getting some. It is an awesome one-step cleaner/wax.

  1. Excellent correction
  2. Incredibly long buffing cycle
  3. Super easy wipe-off
  4. Show car results
  5. Works with anything, even the human hand

How does the Blackfire One Step compare to meguiars d166 polishing wax? I’ve used HD Speed several times and really like it. I’ve been hearing some good stuff about the D166 and now the Blackfire. I’m sure both are great, but how do they compare? Thanks

And anyone that's ever waxed a few cars in their life with product that wipe off hard know how nice it is to have a product that wipes off clear, streak-free and easy.

Hi Tom,

I'm already looking forward to your write-up and the before and after pictures.

I have used all three and I think all are top notch products. I've used 3D HD Speed and BLACKFIRE One Step on black paint and both product were very impressive.

I've only used the Meguiar's D166 Polishing Wax on clearcoated red paint and it too looked great. The real test is always black paint so I'll have to re-visit the D166 sometime in the future.

I'd have to say though, for doing one-step correction work and leaving the paint sealed, you couldn't go wrong with any of these three products.

Anyone tried in direct sun light....

I'm happy to say, each time I've used it, it has been in an air-conditioned garage.

I started to use it outside on a black 1969 Roadrunner but then was able to move the car inside and finish the job.

boat gelcoat?

Also not yet. I have taught our recent boat detailing class but in the class I show using a marine grade cleaner/wax for buffing out boats to remove oxidation. Generally speaking, marine products for THICK gel-coat will be a LOT more aggressive than anything formulated for THIN scratch-sensitive clearcoat paint systems.

My guess is the BLACKFIRE One Step would be GREAT for painted boats and for NEW gel-coat boats that DON'T have deep oxidation.

Since it was brought up.... here's the link to the last boat class, lots of pictures showing what a person gets to do when they attend our boat class. Next year's class is Feb 9th and 10th and people can sign-up now for it.

@ Mike

Thanks for the reply. I don't see many boats in an air-conditioned garage :( What about Menzerna FG400 ;)

I have read every thread you have posed here about boats and gelcoat..... BIG THANK YOU for all the time and effort you put into this. I have learned a LOT by reading your posts.

THANK YOU again! :urtheman:

( What about Menzerna FG400 ;)

Menzerna FG400 is a great compound and it will work great on boats DEPENDING upon what you're trying to do. It all comes down to,

  1. The condition of the gel-coat
  2. The pad you're using.
  3. The tool you're using.
  4. Technique

And in the above order.

What are you working on?

It's what I do...

Thank you for the kind words... appreciated...

@ Mike

Menzerna FG 400

1. Light oxidized gelcoat Sun light

2. LC Hybrid wool pad

3. Either Flex PE 14 or Flex 3401

4. The same one I have used with Captain Polish and get great results.

Well I tried out my 2oz sample of Blackfire One Step and was amazed. Having used HD Speed for years and loving that product, this one is better IMO. Super easy to apply, no dusting, better cut than Speed and the wipe off is incredibly easy. I suspect the longevity will be better as well but will report on that later as Speed tends to be on the short side in that department. My daughter's 2007 Elantra came out beautiful. Sorry no pictures. Cleaning the pads was a breeze too.
