Threads about which wax looks the nicest or is the best

Threads about which MF detergent is the best
Threads about OTC vs online brands

This thread

Will post more when I think of it , feel free to add. Oh and this goes without saying, politics and religion.

Threads with debate over which product is "better" simply based off of opinion. Because it always seems to end up with hurt feelings and pages of the same things repeated.

Did you know the difference between a swirl and a squirrel when you first started out? May sound old and repetitious to the more experienced, but not so to the noobie. These questions will go on even if there is a search button.

Those types of threads seem to always end with: Use what you want to use and use what YOU like best.

Threads about how bad someone else's technique is or how people don't take care of their stuff. If you are in the business of cleaning someone else's stuff, then rejoice in the fact that they're not taking care of it.

Many of these threads are open ended and have way to many variables to have a clear answer. On another non-detailing professional forum I belong to if you post an open ended "which is the best" type question a moderator locks it up with "use the search function".

In this day and age you should know how to use Google, YouTube, search functions, read rules and read/follow instructions. Many of these threads would be avoided had the previously mentioned been utilized.

Certain threads end up down the same road all the time, every time.

Any thread where people people are criticized for not knowing the answer to simple questions.

People on these boards forget all too quickly how overwhelming and confusing these forums are at first.

Hurt feelings? Debating which product is better?
I suppose I'm not as sensitive a fellow as I thought I was.

you don't see it here but it makes me cringe when I see:

Haha.

I just dislike in general when people get emotionally attached to threads and take what could be a good, informative discussion and turn it into a bash fest.

I also dislike a general attitude of everyone should be an expert. Thankfully, that's rare on this forum. But frequently barking 'use search' or attacking folks for asking about deeply opinionated things; when noobies don't know they are such sensitive subjects! I think the OTC discussion, for example, is very valid for newbies. As a newbie, I too wanted to know; specifically- what made those expensive online products better than what I could buy at the store. Luckily; I learned a lot from this forum. I used search and found a lot. But search doesn't always work well- especially when you don't know specifically what you are looking for. Most forum search systems only search by individual keywords, not phrases. Which makes it pretty useless as "over the counter versus online" will be searched as "over" then "counter" then "versus" and so on... getting a bunch of garbage results in the process.

Those are really gear grinders...In my honest opinion!

You realize that putting your web address and name in your signature is a commonly used and appropriate way to increase your business's web presence, right?

This thread is going nowhere fast. No one is perfect and being overly critical of others leads to nothing but strife.
