Before you buy regular flat pads, keep experimenting with the HT pads, your results may vary. I'm just speaking from my experience, that I've had much better luck with HT pads on hard paint rather than soft.I'll follow your suggestion and try crimson with both UP and UC on my red VW to check what's going on.....
Also, probably next weekend, I have another Fiat Punto, but black, booked and we'll be able to tell about the hard or soft paint matter...
As a side note, I'll create a topic about it..... but everybody using Ultimate Polish should wash or use pre-wax cleaner before LSP... I didn't and after only a month collinite's #885 beading already dropped a lot. I can't tell about Ultimate Compound on this issue just yet.
Oh boy.... so I need to get some regular flat low profile pads........ Meghan, bogo ? LoL...
As far as the UP, you're exactly right. UP has *a lot* of polishing oils which would definitely effect the durability of any LSP. UC doesn't have nearly as much.
