ADS Ghost tire coating...real world durability and looks!

So that means the Ghost is clear.
No, it's a milky white, like all the acrylic tire dressings (Tuff Shine, McKee's, Optimum TPC, Mr. Cartoon)...er...except the black ones. I think the major difference between all of the white ones is...marketing mumbo-jumbo. Out of those I've only used the Optimum (I haven't used my Ghost yet, which I bought on Black Friday in some sort of forum-induced hypnosis), so take my conjecture for what it is.

Not to threadjack, but to answer your questions--I put the OPT stuff (actually the Gelcoat Restorer--which as far as I can tell is the same thing as the TPC) on one of my cars almost a year ago when I rotated the tires, and have 3-4,000 miles on them now. The fronts you can't tell anything is there, but they are still black. The backs still have have a sheen.

As long as you don't have a browning issue that shows up under the coating, which Klasse did, and I have had on some snowflake-on-the-mountain (soft winter compound) tires, yes, they gradually fade out to a black clean tire, although 2 coats might be "cheesy" in the beginning. IMO/IME, YMMV.

You lost me here, I mean you Really lost me… Gelcoat Restorer? How the hell does that wind up in this conversation? Lol. And how is gelcoat restorer the same thing as tire coating? And how the hell do you even get around to buying, let alone using gelcoat restorer?

And what the hell is TPC?lol.

The fact Ghost cures and is completely dry to touch is where it sits above Endurance, which I always found never truly dried so it would accumulate dirt and make the tyre look brown over time. And that's before we talk about sling.

He's talking about the defunct Turtle Wax Endura tire coating, not Meg's Endurance dressing.

Correct, Endurance isn’t even in the same league.. Endura! Lol.

Wait a second… Did I just find yet another rip off of Meguiars product names? What do you think Setec? Should I add Turtle Wax Endura to the list of my class action lawsuit, when I represent Meguiars vs. the rest of the detailing world? Lol.

OK (sorry Klasse, for taking this off-topic), some years ago, Optimum came out with Clearcoat Restorer, Gelcoat Restorer, and Tire Protection and Coating (TPC). My GF's car had some failing clear on the roof, but it turns out the Clearcoat Restorer was not for that, it was for filling scratches. The Gelcoat Restorer was for boats and RV's, where instead of compounding the bejeesus out of faded gelcoat, you put this stuff on which soaked in and made it shiny again.

I thought that gelcoat restoration sounded a lot like faded clear, and it wasn't that expensive at the time, so I figured I would give the Gelcoat Restorer a shot. It actually did work kind of, it made the faded clear look better, and it didn't get any worse after that. So I had this quart of Gelcoat Restorer (only size it came in), that I had only used a tiny bit of, and I noticed that it looked and applied just like the Tropicare tire coating I had a hundred years ago (really the first acrylic tire coating, before Tuff Shine, but Tropicare disappeared 20 years ago), and it looked just like the TPC, so I thought I would give it a go on the back of a tire.

It went on just like the other milky acrylic tire coatings, got the blue tinge after you put it on, then dried clear. Later OPT updated both the Gelcoat Restorer and the Tire Protection and Coating, and the description of the improvements was identical, so that just cemented my belief that these products, if not identical, are very close to each other. And I've been using the Gelcoat Restorer as a tire coating since then...I don't know, 5 or 6 years.

I think you need to be an Esquire before you bring that suit. See what Barry thinks.

And you’ve got quarts of the stuff? I thought you had it good with your little hoarding of the Detailers Advantage… But now you’re saying you not only have the Detailers Advantage, but you’ve got all this stuff by the quart? And what’s this talk about a tire coating from 100 years ago? I’m guessing you still have some of that on the shelf too?

Damn man, you could damn near coat the whole town and their friends cars too.

You should run for mayor. Promise them you’ll coat their tires. Lol.

No, just A quart of the Gelcoat Restorer, not quartS. Which I guess is about half gone now. And I used up that other tire coating 20 years ago.

Back before this forum existed, back in the early 2000's, when the place to go was Autopia, there was a line of products called Tropicare.

Here's a thread some yo-yo started about it over there: https://www.autopia.org/threads/tropi-care-tc-15sf-silicone-free-tire-trim-dressing.103116/

I guess it wasn't quite 20 years ago. You'll notice the same complaints about how clean you had to get the tire before applying.

Random "flash pic" of ADS Ghost after atleast 4 touch-free washes in a row and certainly a proper cleaning over the weekend!

I've got a trip to the D coming up Friday, weather doesn't look too good so a real world test, 700 miles there and back, in the rain with no wash until I get back to Chicago (if the weather allows on Father's Day)...stay "tuned"

I'm currently writing an overview for Ghost and sent Bradley a message asking what scent they use in this product. Now, I get undertones of caramel and chocolate, but do you want to know what the official name is?

Bradley - "You’ll laugh but…......................... “monkey farts” LOL"

Geez, I never knew monkey farts smelt that good! More to the point, who is going around sniffing monkey farts to find out what the smell like? :ROFLMAO:

Absolutely, just make sure they cut you in on the payout.
