Mobile Van still in progress!

Hey Kris,

The rigs looking good. Those .96 Home Depot bottles will last you a long time, longer than those expensive ones in our experience. We bought a few of them for the heavier chemicals and - the majority - broke within the first two jobs. Something to be said for the cheaper stuff.

Chris

hey kris do you use your tornado gun alot?

Every single day, for every single job with an interior. I will never be without one. :dblthumb2:

What kind of Generator you got kris? Whats a good output power for a generator to have for a mobile business?

I have an ETQ 4000 watt generator. I haven't done any actual jobs yet...but I've tested it out various times, and it seems to be more than enough. Got off of Sams Club online.

Really? That's strange. Well, if they break...they do say 5 year warranty of them, ha.

Cool compressor, ive never seen one like that either....really different. Im in the hunt for a bigger one that what i just ordered lol...i kinda got the painting 'itch' after i ordered it...so i need more CFM...so gotta upgrade...might end up on craigslist lol :)..ive gotten lucky with buying off there SO FAR...hope my luck continues.

The pump guns have worked great for me...i have 3...APC,APC+ and degreaser. For dressings i use the regular spray trigger bottles.

Know whats funny about those rigid vacs? They arn't made by rigid lol...home depot owns the rights to the "rigid' name...and just uses em on the shop vacs...i thought that was kinda funny.

The shop vac i told you about was only $60 or 70 during an x-mas sale...im broke all the time so i really have to shop for good deals...and that was one of the best investments so far.

You sound like you've been through a few of those rigid ones...you just have a few at your shop or have you burned a few out.

Yeah I have been through a few. But I pull the filters from those things, ha. I use them too frequently to maintain those filters. They just end up screwing up the suction power. So I pull them, and use the vac till it dies on me, haha.

Sounds great if is actually quiet. I can't see the price online I guess I have to have a membership with Sam. How much you paid for it?

Is there's any other way I can buy it without getting the membership? :( I am a member of Costco only.

Well, I wouldn't say it's quiet. I mean, for a generator...it's pretty quiet. When I first started it up, I was having a conversation standing 2 feet away from it. So it's definitely not deafening. Most generators will drown you out to the point where you have to be a good 15 feet away to hear what someone is saying.

Someone on this forum has a similar generator, and he mentioned that it's only 3db louder than the Honda super quiet generators. BUT, it's about a 1/3 of the price. That's why I went for it.

I do think you need a sams membership to get their price. I forget exactly what I paid. I think it was almost $400 with shipping. Something like that. I've bought so much stuff for mobile that it's all a jumbled mess in my head, ha.

Whats this tornado you guys are talking about for interiors? Also when you go to do a job are you going to just run the generator inside of the van or pull it to the very back or just take it out?

I was planning on just taking it out. We are talking about the Tornador. Look it up in the AG store. Every interior I do sees the Tornador. I use it for dressing. Makes quick work of thorough dressing. Plus it's extremely handy for crevices, compartments, vents, etc. Anywhere where you'd normally have to spray dressing, and use and air hose to get the cracks...the Tornador does it much easier.

lol i only knew about their foam gun...are you talking about this one ? Tornador Air Blow Out Gun, air cleaning gun, detailing gun

When you say you use it for dressing and it makes quick work of it...how does this air gun help with dressing ? (sorry im sure there is something im missing here). And would you say there is a big difference between using it and a standard air blaster attachment for a compressor?

BTW i just wanted to say damn you for making me want to go out and get MORE goodies...thanks a lot Kris...im over here trying to have some discipline!

No no no. That's just basically an air gun. I'm talking about this tool here. Autogeek Tornador Car Cleaning Gun Free Bonus

You can put dressing or whatever product you want really into the canister.

Will the Tornado work with a 4 gallon pancake compressor? Also can you any interior cleaner or sox with it?

Ohh ok...guess i overlooked it i thought it was another foam gun :). So you think it was worth the $130? Do you use it just for dressing or for cleaning solution also? If you use it for cleaning...do you even have to scrub or does the air pressure push out all the dirt?

Just curious as to how exactly you use it :)

I'm really not sure. I'm sure you could use it...but you might be waiting on your compressor quite a bit.

I clean the vinyl trouble spots before hand with apc and magic sponges. But it will push dirt out of crevices and tough spots much easier. But I just get the vinyl cleaned up by hand first so I'm not pushing around dirt and grime. I use it as a final step of dressing.

Yeah the steamer i just bought has pretty good pressure and knocks the crap out of stuff in cracks/crevices what were a paint to do by hand....just spray a little APC...spread it around and then go at it with the steamer...its nice cause its a lot less chemicals to have to use and a lot less contact being made with my hands...i can see how it would be nice for dressing...since you can set it for a mist im guessing you use a lot less dressing to cover an area than you usually would?

I actually find that I use less dressing. It comes out of the Tornador in such a fine mist, that it doesn't use much. I can fill that canister up, and do like 5-6 vehicles before refilling.

I used to go through much more when it was in a spray bottle.

Yeah thats what i figured...fine mist is nice :).

Here is something you might wanna try...unless you have something equivalent already.
Green Earth G-Foam Blaster for 4,000 psi Pressure Washers - AGPWF04 at The Home Depot

Its like the foam cannon but $100 cheaper lol...i was able to hook it up and cover an entire Chevy Express Conversion Van in literally about a minute...then just went around with a rinse bucket of water and my wash mit...really just hand to lightly rub it over the body of the truck...rinsing every panel or so...then power wash it clean and dry...only took about 2 oz of soap in the container for this huge truck...which isnt too bad.

I paid $138 (with tax) buying it new from HD..free shipping. if you can find a promo code for $10 then that would help...i couldn't find one thought so i just ordered it because i thought i HAD to have it for next week for an RV we were SUPPOSE to have...this lady had this RV that was oxidized to hell..so we quoted her a wash n wax...and a wash/compound/wax....she was kinda 'eh' about the price..but it was fair for the amount of work it would requite...now the thing was she said she had 'just had it buffed out' last year...and it was back to being as smooth as a chalk board already. I explained we use good products and do things the right way...and after she had it done this one time..as long as she kept it waxed it would stay in good shape. She said she would think on it and let us know which one she wanted to do and requested we keep tuesday open for her..we had a job booked thten but told her since she was going out of town we could reschedule the one we had booked and put her in. Then today she calls and says she found someone else to do it:rant:!

Ugh..its like did you not learn LAST TIME that you paid some cheap ass to do it that it doesnt work and you're just throwing good money after bad!

Anyway...thats what i paid for the PW lol...i checked craigslist first but couldnt find a good price on it...so i just bit the bullet :). I also go the 'g-force' cannon from HD that hooks up to the PW like the foam cannon..except its only like $17...worked great the 1st time i used it...saved a TON of time.:dblthumb2:

Sorry fellas. Little crazy busy lately. Jamores...you'll love the Tornador, period, ha.

And Will, I never actually praised that Stanley PW. I only bought it cause it had good reviews. I've yet to actually use it. So if it blows up, or randomly catches fire....don't blame me! lol
