New ONR Hyper Foam

Speaking of DiY, it's awesome. I'm impressed with the cleaning power, and how well it leaves a clean surface behind. Used it on a glass table yesterday and it worked perfectly.

The foaming ability of ONR will allow it to dwell on surface longer rather then run off. That's the only benefit I can see. Curious how it works as a bucket wash.

DIY works great. I have about half a gallon left. I've used it all over the house as well.

I'm going to pickup the new ONR i think though.

So I'm watching the Day 1 SEMA walk-thru by TRC, and Anthony is in the Optimum booth with Dr. G, and Anthony is referring to it as Foam-N-R, too funny. I think that's what I'm going to call it from now on, FoamNR.

EDIT: OMG, Dr. G is saying one of the reasons he came up with this product is because pro detailers had a problem when washing cars with ONR, customers thought they were washing with water, so now they can do a rinseless wash with foam and the customers are ok with that.(?)

How many people actually stand around and watch their pro detailer

I guess mobile detailers maybe but...

Thats a hard statement to even respond to

It is all about perception since many do not accept the rinseless method safe at any level.

I am not doubting the man said the above. However anyone that takes their car to a detailer or has a mobile detailer come to them would have no idea what ONR or any rinseless wash was. So I am calling that response total BS.
I suspect the real reason is Optimum has seen their market share shrinking and came up with a foaming rinseless in an attempt to get some of that back.

Most likely. When Dr. G. got sick, it seemed like they fell off. Hard to catch up at this point lol.

Most of you probably like all these new products but I'm nearing the point where the industry is so oversaturated with gimmicky products that's it's become a big turn off. And that's a good thing because it keeps me from spending money on more overhyped products.

Watching video after video of 3, 5 and 8 year coatings losing their beading at the 1 year mark only to have the brand ambassador tell them they didn't install it right or it needs an 8 pH system to revive it etc. It's all a joke.

I would have used a bigger font if one were available

Oversaturated...that's an understatement

Now I'll call myself out for sure, I'm always getting swayed into "something new", no doubt about it but this winter I need to streamline it down without a doubt! My "Silence of the Lambs" room is getting congested, almost no room for a can of Fava beans when a guest comes over

Where do you keep the lotion?

I don't think that's quite fair, to your point, customers of a mobile detailer almost certainly don't know what a rinseless wash is, and would think their car is getting washed with water, and they're not "getting their money's worth". I have wondered many times when doing a rinseless in my driveway whether my neighbors are looking out the window saying "he's washing his car with water!"

I do agree that's not likely the reason OPT came out with FoamNR, I'm sure it was a "me too" product, the YouTubers have made this distinction between polymer and surfactant RW's, so Dr. G figured he'd do a surfactant one to round out the line.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm completely uninterested in any of the new SEMA products. I do enjoy trying new products but these days I limit my new purchases to products that enthusiasts actually use and can vouch for as opposed to the next batch of detailing snake oil.

As far as the 8 year coating losing its beading after a year, I distinctly remember watching a video of such an occurrence. The "detailer" did a 3 pH wash and it was still flat and then proceeded to "resurrect" the coating by applying quick beads. That $160 bottle of coating couldn't last one year while I've had CanCoat, which is about $4.50 per vehicle last over 15 months. This is why I stick to brands that have earned their rep and don't really on silly marketing tricks to move products.

"Resurrect"....more like life support

While I like Quick Beads and other spray on, hose off products, I mainly use them for wheels and my grill area to make future cleanings easier, some times on my g/f's ride "just to see"

But many are called game changers....it is still just clean and protect. There is always so much justification around why a certain method is better. If foam, rinse, then contact is good why isnt foam twice then wash even better. The problem is it cannot be proven with direct data and relies on anecdotal data. Yea, that coated car looks great after washing with anything. On my Facebook feed, I see ads for many detailing brands never discussed on the youtube universe.

It is a game of upmanship on what cleans safer and has better water beading/sheeting properties.

IMO, since joining AG back in February 2012, the only true "game changers have been RW's themselves AND ceramic coatings, both the first such products of each to come to market, then afterwards each were tweaked within an inch of their lives to be better

Optimum seems to been reactive by providing products that solve problems.

The modern sellers have the mindset of identifying so called problems (whether it really is or not) and providing products that supposedly address.

You need more foam so it can be safer - so here is a foam product. You need an 8 year coating, here is an 8 year coating. I think most know that the car will likely have a different owner in 4 years.
