Plan of attack for my black 2012 Tundra

I would try 205 or UP on a mf finishing disc. That also worked for me

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using AG Online

I would do the same except with a foam pad, white LC pad or a yellow megs pad with 205 or UP. You would of got the same results as you did with Menzerna. Just like any cutting compound you will get a haze on "some" paints. You hit it with a fine polish like Menzerna and it cleared right up. Glad you got your paint system dialed in.

fingers crossed when you see it in the sun light tomorrow it's looking as good as that photo.

let me know if there is anything else I can do to help, i'll be mostly here at the house for at least the next week.

you might find SF 4500 doesnt have enough cut for the swirls...

if thats the case, and you like the Menz, you might want to try SF4000. it has more cut, but finishes almost as nice as the 4500 on everything but black. On your tundra you will likely need to finish with the 4500, but it will be worth it.
Menzerna, Menzerna Polishing Compounds Products, Menzerna FMJ, menzerna polishes, menzerna car polish, menzerna nano polish, menzerna final polish,

why would he have to finish with 4500 if he uses 4000? I thought they had same gloss level (5) but more cut with 4000.

you are correct...according to the chart, they do have the same gloss level and should finish the same, but if using it on soft paint like th OP believes he has, the 4500 will likely finish better because it has virtually no cut...more of a pure polish...and it will bring about the best finish possible IMHO.

it was merely a suggestion that if he tried the 4000 to hit the swirls, that it might look better with a polish of 4500, but IME it will finish it much better.

If his Black (202) is anything like mine the sf4500 will have plenty of correction ability. Either one will do the job I bet.

Yes it's black (202). I purchased 400, 2500, 4000, and 4500 yesterday morning. When it gets in I'm going to play with them all on different pads to see what I get. But yes the 4500 took that haze/light scratches right out with just a quick couple passes with a blue CCS LC 5.5 pad.

Wife won't be happy but I sure will.
Thank everyone that responded. I'm just getting started and already have the bug. Thankfully there are a lot of helpful nice hobbyist/professionals that have reached out in private messages, that live down the street from me, and even here in the forums when I have questions.

Yeah, my wife wasn't happy at first......until she saw the shine on her Camry!

Off topic question. Did you get the TRD supercharger package?

No, mine is the TSS package. I like the truck a lot just wish I would have gotten the 5.7, And not black. My OCD Is killing me. Already thought about trading it in for a different one.

I hear that, When I first got my vehicle I would freak whenever I found a swirl or scratch, black is so dang hard to hide any imperfections.

What's the best coating for scratch resistant? CQuartz, opti-coat? I know there not scratch proof but something that if my son runs his hand across the door or my wife's purse glides on it I won't have to worry about what damage they did.

Opticoat is more permanent than Cquartz.

both very different products.

Personally, i like opticoat, but even it wont withstand alot of punishment...it is supposed to cure harder than your clear.

Interesting, I have both. I also have a black car so I'll give it a try man, thanks
