⚠️ Where have all the bugs gone?? ⚠️

Driving home on the back roads last night, I encountered a lot of bugs. Their bodies have a low pH and their acidic nature leave enzymes behind that will eat through clear coat. Not on MY clear coat. Poorboys Bug Squash and Griots Bug Barricade took care of that. No shortage of bugs on a warm...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Weeks of snow, slush, rain, salt, grit wreaked havoc on my wheels and paint. My quest for a clean tire just got closer to reality. After three scrubbings with LATA the tires still were not clean. Griots Garage Rubber Prep completely cleaned the tires and made them ready for their ceramic...

Learned a New Tire Cleaning Trick

I have used Mothers Back to Black Tire cleaner in the past with good success. It is a spray on wipe off product but you go through a lot of towels. If the IPA really works, then maybe I'll try some rot gut whisky.

    Interior leather cleaning & care

Ultima Interior Shampoo Gel is a safe but effective leather cleaner. Coupled with a Sonax leather brush and plain terry towel it leaves the leather completely clean ready for a treatment or coating. People are amazed when I show them the dirt that comes off of the seats and onto the terry towel...

Learned a New Tire Cleaning Trick

Do you mean IPA as in India Pale Ale? If it works for cleaning tires, imagine what it does to your liver. LA Totally Awesome from the Dollar General works best for me.

Anyone have a way to clean work truck dimpled plastic floors?

I would consider using a Tornador Black Z-020 cleaning gun with their cleaner solution. The Tornador works best if you have an air compressor capable of 5 CFM at 90 psi.

    Quirky Habits When Detailing

I sing while detailing. My neighbors say that I sound pretty good.

    Drying towel suggestions

I generally start with a dryer and then the best towel I have used is the Griots PFM Edgeless.

    Let’s talk tire dressings!

I am always in search of my next favorite tire dressing. I have tried many but my favorites are Duragloss 253, Griots Long Lasting Tire Dressing and my recent favorite is Griots Ceramic Tire Dressing. It does last a long time and the tires do not turn brown. I got a bottle of Meguiars Endurance...

    Pocket hose copper bullet

I have one and I tried it last week. So far so good. The fittings are good and solid and it has a shutoff valve. I used the first iteration of this type of hose a few years ago and it was a disaster. It literally blew up in my face. I did eventually get my money back.

Just tried Griot’s Garage Ceramic Tire Dressing

I am always looking for the next best tire dressing and tried the Griots Ceramic Tire dressing. I made sure that I started with a thoroughly clean tire and applied two coats. I am pleased with the look and how long it has been lasting. Even after driving through the rain, the tires stayed black...

Recommended: Interior APC & Quick Detailer

For removing dirt or grime from the interior, I like to use Meguairs D101 diluted 10:1. For a light cleaning, I like to use Simple Green. Diluted 10:1, it is a safe pH neutral cleaner, especially for some delicate interior surfaces. In concentrate, Simple Green has a pH range of 8.5-9.5. The pH...

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I am always experimenting with different soaps ever since I was a kid in the 70s. My first go to soap was Dupont No.7 powder in the metal can. Then it was Meguairs Gold Class. Now that I am using a foam cannon, I try different extra foamy soaps. Nothing beats Hyperwash. It's slippery, sudsy and...

    Do you Pre-Soak : Pre-Foam and Why

In the winter around here in New England, it is necessary to presoak to get the salt and grit off of the surface. When it’s not winter I foam because foam is fun. It’s usually foamy Fridays around here in the summer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

That is a beautiful truck. It is always rewarding to work on a new vehicle and remove the mistakes from the "dealer prep".

Did I just ruin my glass or is there any way to fix this (etched or stained)?

Polishing glass is an arduous process. Scratches can only be removed by polishing with cerium oxide but it creates a lot of dust and it has a short work time. Most glass polishes or car polishes only work for removing road film or water spots. The Stoner Glass Stripper looks like an interesting...

Thanks Ric. I love that color. GM called is Dark Blue Metallic. The pollen around here is in full swing. The truck was green when I started.
